TrendForce’s WitsView announced its panel price in late April yesterday (20). Due to weak demand and the insignificant reduction of production by manufacturers, all TV panels of all sizes turned to decline. Among them, 65-inch TVs fell the heaviest in a single month, with a drop of 8.28%. Fan Boyu, deputy research director of TrendForce Display Research Office, pointed out that demand is still weak at this stage, and it is speculated that some size panels may have fallen below the cash cost price.
WitsView latest April quotation statistics, the 32-inch TV panel that remained the same for two months was not as weak as demand. The quotation in late April was US$38, down US$2 from the end of last month, a drop of about 5%. The quotation for 43 and 55-inch TV panels was US$66 and US$104 respectively, with a monthly decline of 7.04% and 3.7%.
Observation The main reason for the decline in TV panels in April. Fan Boyu bluntly stated that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine caused global TV demand to be weak, among which the European market was the first to be hit, and the production cuts of panel factories also had a gap with expectations, which intensified the overall oversupply of panels, which was unfavorable to support prices. The decline in TV panels this month was slightly larger than expected.
Looking ahead, as overall demand has not seen a significant recovery, Fan Boyu believes that the decline in May and June may continue, but the decline is expected to converge compared with this month. As for the previous expectation that the 618 Shopping Festival is expected to drive related business opportunities, due to the recent tightening of the lockdown and control measures, it is estimated that the manufacturer's promotional strength and scale will be worse than expected. The
IT panel was also affected by the cooling demand and maintained its decline. In April, the 21.5, 23.8 and 27-inch display panels all fell by US$4 compared with the previous month, and the quotation reached US$54.8, 69.6 and 79.7, with a decline of approximately 5%. The average laptop panel also fell by US$2.3-2.8, with a decline of 5%. However, compared with the previous worst drop, the 11.6-inch laptop panel, has slightly converged this month.
