The first option is, Russia chooses Ukraine to fall.

The second option is that Russia conquered Kiev and established a pro-Russian regime.
This is also the most powerful choice for Russia at present. It not only solves the problem of NATO's eastward advance, but also establishes a buffer zone between Russia and NATO. Historically, there was indeed a pro-Russian regime in Ukraine. If NATO wants to advance eastward, it has to pass through Ukraine, which is a sovereign state. The third option is that Russia conquered Kiev and withdrew its troops, abandoned Ukraine, and officially included the two states of Donetsk , Lugansk into the Russian territory.

But one disadvantage of doing this is that the Ukrainian authorities will inevitably join NATO, and the situation may be even more chaotic in the future. After all, NATO will not be proud of Russia.
