Huang Liushuang was born on January 3, 1905 in Chinatown, Los Angeles. When not working in school or at her father’s laundry, when the movie was filmed near her home, Wong Liushuang would wander around the film crew and beg the filmmaker to let her star in the movie. At the age of 11, she gave herself a stage name - Anna May Wong, and a few years later, she played the first unknown role in the 1919 film "Red Lantern".
Despite positive reviews, racial barriers prevent American filmmakers from providing her with any opportunity and can only play small supporting roles based on racial stereotypes. Tired of being neglected by the protagonist, Huang Liushuang moved to Europe in 1928. There, she filmed the 1929 "The Chinatown Fun Dream", which was her last silent film and her first protagonist in a British film. In 1930, she starred in the first audio film of her career, "Fire of Love". She also appeared on the stage with the young Lawrence Oliver .
After returning to Hollywood in 1930, Huang Liushuang acted opposite her close friend Marlene Dietli in 1932. Her performance was rated by many film historians as better than Dietli's.
In 1926, she laid her first rivet at the Grauman Chinese Theater, but she was not invited to leave her handprints in the cement. In 1960, as the first Chinese star, he stayed at the inauguration ceremony of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her contributions were also commemorated by Google Doodle, named after her in 2020.
Huang Liushuang died in 1961.
