1. Introduction to colleges and universities
1.1 History of college development
Wuhan University was the predecessor of Ziqiang Academy founded in 1893. In 1926, the National Wuchang University and other institutions merged into the National Wuchang Sun Yat-sen University. In 1928, the National Wuchang Sun Yat-sen University was reorganized and the National Wuhan University was established. Until August 2, 2000, four universities including Wuhan University, Hubei Medical University were formed into the new Wuhan University.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology can be traced back to 1952 until May 26, 2000. The three colleges and universities, Tongji Medical University, Wuhan Urban Construction College, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, merged into the current Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

1.2 Overview of colleges and universities
Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Wuhan University) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as Huazhong University of Science and Technology) are both located in Wuhan, a new first-tier city in central my country. They are both selected as the first national key universities in the country to be comprehensively selected into the country's first "Double First-Class (Class A), "211 Project", and "985 Project".

Figure 3 shows the rankings of Huake and Wuhan University in the past decade. Huake rankings are mostly between 10-12, and Wuhan University is basically ahead of 10. According to the "Top 100 Top Ten Authoritative Universities in the Alumni Association (Top 100 in China) in 2019", Wuhan University is slightly ahead of Huake, ranking ninth, and Huake ranked twelve.

2. The two colleges and universities have the same comprehensive strength. Hubei Province is difficult to retain talents. The types of subjects rated are basically the same. The proportion of each subject is similar.

Wuhan University and Huake are not much different in the overall level of disciplines. In the fourth round of subject evaluation results, there are 51 Wuhan University in C or above, and 44 Huake (see Table 1 for some disciplines and ratings). Among the subjects that received the rating, Wuhan University and Huake accounted for the largest proportion of engineering disciplines, followed by humanities and social sciences. Huake accounted for nearly 64% of the total proportion of these two disciplines. The total proportion of these two disciplines of Wuhan University increased slightly (see Figures 4 and 5 for details of the discipline proportion). Huake also has a slight involvement in art. The design rating in art is B-. Candidates who want to study design and want to enter comprehensive universities can consider Huake.
2.2 The overall level of faculty of Wuhan University and Huake is not different
The two colleges and universities have a certain number of outstanding teachers and scholars. In terms of quantity, the full-time teachers of Huake are relatively fewer than those of the Changjiang scholars in Wuhan University, but overall there is no obvious difference in faculty of the two colleges.
2.3 Wuhan University and Huake have strong teaching resources
Huake students spend more on daily teaching and experimental funds than Wuhan University. Wuhan University provides students with more book resources. Generally speaking, both colleges and universities invest considerable learning resources for students.
2.4 Graduates from two colleges have obvious intention to go to school

Huake undergraduates' graduation destination is divided into six indicators in the employment quality report. During the analysis process, the admitted graduate students and graduate students without examination will be merged into study, and the agreed employment and self-employment will be merged into employment.
More than half of the undergraduate graduates of Wuhan University and Huake chose to go to school (domestic and foreign countries). Huake's undergraduate employment rate and domestic admission rate are slightly higher than Wuhan University. With a slightly higher proportion of employment, Wuhan University has better than Huake's further studies, which proves that more Wuhan University undergraduate graduates are willing to study abroad.
Among the two universities who choose to go to school in China, more than half of the students stay at the school, and Huako is about 3 percentage points higher than Wuhan University (see Figure 7 for details). Wuhan University has more undergraduate graduates who are relatively willing to go to other Double First-class colleges to receive education in different training modes.The admission rate of Huake and Wuhan University far exceeds the employment rate. Among them, about 60% of Huake (accounting for 26.04% of the total number of graduates) of domestic admissions students can enter universities through the examination-free examination. It can be seen that the Double First-Class colleges attach great importance to in-depth training.
2.5 Hubei Province has suffered serious talent loss, and graduates tend to find employment in Guangdong Province
According to the employment destinations of graduates from Wuhan University and Huake in 2018, it can be found that only one-quarter of all employed people staying in the province to develop, and more than one-quarter of the talents flow to Guangdong Province. The loss of talents will have a certain negative impact on Hubei Province, which is still in the development period.
3. Wuhan University’s liberal arts and science disciplines have obvious advantages. High-scoring students prefer Wuhan University’s

Wuhan University’s humanities and social science disciplines account for 31.58% of all A-class disciplines in Wuhan University, accounting for 46.15% of all rated humanities and social sciences in Wuhan University, and nearly half of them were rated humanities and social sciences in Wuhan University. There is only one A-class humanities and social science category in Huake, accounting for 10% of the total humanities and social science category. Wuhan University’s science major has distinct advantages. Three-quarters of science majors have been rated as science majors. Among the A disciplines, A science accounts for 31.58% of all A disciplines, while Huake’s A science accounts for only 14.29% of all A disciplines. 3.2 Wuhan University has high social recognition
Wuhan University accepts donations from graduates and society, with a total amount of more than 5 times that of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and its wealth and creativity are about twice that of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Wuhan University has a long history, and the number of outstanding alumni first has the advantage. Secondly, Wuhan University's liberal arts strength is stronger than Huake. Liberal arts graduates develop more into corporate management, and their wealth creativity is better than science and engineering graduates to a certain extent.
3.3 Wuhan University is more inclusive to liberal arts students

Overall, the number of enrollment plans for science students is much higher than that of liberal arts students, but Huake University and Wuhan University have significantly different plans for liberal arts and science students. Wuhan University plans to recruit science students about four times that of liberal arts students. Huake University plans to recruit liberal arts students only one-eighth of science students. Although the number of students enrolled in provinces and cities where the two colleges and universities are divided into liberal arts and sciences is only a single-digit difference, the number of liberal arts students recruited by Wuhan University is almost equal to the number of science students most of Huake University recruited by Wuhan. The difference in the number of students enrolled in liberal arts and science students is related to the discipline construction and training model of the two colleges. Huake focuses on industry and requires candidates from science. Wuhan University has outstanding humanities and social sciences and is willing to train students from liberal arts.
3.4 Wuhan University has better student quality

Wuhan University has more students enrolled in various provinces than Huake, and its lowest score is higher than Huake. In 2018, Wuhan University's overall student quality exceeded Huake.
4. Huake has strong engineering strength and good scientific research capabilities
4.1 Huake's outstanding disciplines are mostly engineering
Huake/Wuke/Wuke's rated engineering disciplines account for about 40% of the total, Huake's Class A engineering disciplines account for 50% of all A disciplines, while Wuhan University's Class A engineering ratio has dropped slightly, only 21.05% (see Table 6 for details), which is enough to prove that Huake's strong engineering strength is.
4.2 Wuhan University has developed in parallel with many disciplines. Huake Heavy Industry

Wuhan University has been approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance to build a total of 27 special majors, and Huake has built a total of 25 majors (see Table 11 for details). From Figure 9, Huake and Wuhan University have relatively many engineering majors, among which Huake Construction's engineering specialty majors are basically the same as the total number of science and engineering majors at Wuhan University. The majors of science and engineering account for 64% of the 25 special majors, while the other five majors account for only 36%. The special majors of Wuhan University also cover philosophy, law, and history, giving liberal arts candidates more choices.
4.3 Huake International has a high influence and significant scientific research capabilities. Huake, which has a comprehensive engineering-oriented science, has a scientific research fund of about 1.5 times that of Wuhan University, and has a technology transfer income of 20 million yuan compared to Wuhan University. Compared with Wuhan University, Huake attaches more importance to scientific research projects and has made certain breakthroughs in the scientific and technological level. (See Table 12 for details)
Huake attracts 298 international students. According to the "2019 World Authoritative Universities Ranking (China University) Top 100" list released by the Alumni Association, Huake's average world ranking is 202, while Wuhan University's average world ranking is 11. From the perspective of international influence, Huake is better than Wuhan University.
4.4 More Huake people join scientific research institutions
Wuhan University found 2,002 people in 2018, and Huake 2,226 people. There is no significant difference in the proportion of graduates from the two colleges and universities employed in party and government organs, public institutions, enterprises and other institutions. Huake's proportion of employed in public institutions and enterprises is slightly higher, and the ratio of employed in party and government organs is slightly lower. 3.7% of Huake employed graduates went to scientific research and design units, while Wuhan University only had 0.42%. This is related to the training model of the two colleges and universities. Huake focuses on engineering and has achieved outstanding results in scientific research. Compared with Wuhan University, Huake students prefer scientific research. Most of the graduates from Huake went to the third-investment enterprises competed about 3 percentage points, which is related to the employment unit of Huake graduates (see Table 5 for details). Huake graduates went to Shanghai to find employment more. As an international city, graduates have more advantages in signing foreign-investment and joint ventures.
4.5 Huake is more concerned about graduate employment
Huake holds more special job fairs and large-scale job fairs than Wuhan University. The total number of job fairs is 207 more than that of Wuhan University. The participating units are mostly 1,147. Huake is more concerned about graduates' employment and career choice.
5. Summary
1. The two colleges and universities have strong comprehensive strength and strong faculty. Most graduates choose to continue their studies.
2. Hubei Province has suffered serious loss of self-cultivation talents, and more graduates choose to find employment in Guangdong Province.
3. Wuhan University has more outstanding liberal arts and science majors, high social recognition, and excellent overall student quality.
