Jiaohuidian News On the afternoon of September 26, the 2020 "Xiangtai Cup" Cross-Strait (Taizhou) Beautiful Rural B&B Design Online Invitational Competition ended successfully. The organizers set up award ceremony sites in Taizhou and Taichung respectively, using a combination of online and offline methods to interact in real time through video connection. Representatives of students and instructors from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, special judges from relevant universities, some Taiwanese business representatives and relevant persons in charge of beautiful villages in Taizhou attended the event. The first prizes of this competition are "Seven Miles Galaxy" and "Arriving at the Forgotten Islands in the City". "Qianli Galaxy" was jointly designed by Nanjing University , Shandong University of Architecture Liu Yutian, Gao Yuan and others. The work aims at the current situation of Qilin Community in Hailing District, Taizhou, breaks out of the traditional design thinking of homestays, and integrates environmental protection concepts and mythological connotations. "Arriving in the Forgotten Islands" was designed by Yang Qingwen of Kaohsiung University. This work reflects the common problems existing in rural areas on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to a certain extent. The environmental design solutions presented can bring useful inspiration to villages facing similar difficulties. The invitational competition is jointly organized by Taizhou Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Federation, Taizhou Youth Artists Association, Taiwan China Youth Exchange Association, and Taiwan Wood Construction Industry Research Institute Association. The competition is themed "Gathering the wisdom of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and building a beautiful home together". It aims to build a Thai-Taiwan exchange platform, gather the cultural and creative wisdom of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and use homestay design to help the development of beautiful villages. With the joint promotion of the organizers of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, after extensive solicitation, the competition received 89 entries submitted by nearly 100 students from 16 universities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, including Nanjing University, Soochow University , Nanjing Normal University Taizhou College , and Kaohsiung University, Fengjia University, Taipei University of Science and Technology, and Kaohsiung University . Relevant experts and scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait were invited to carefully review the entries, and a total of 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 8 third prizes were awarded.
Nanjing University School of Architecture and Urban Planning , Vice Dean and PhD Supervisor, Zhou Ling, and other experts believe that Taiwanese college students' works pay more attention to ecological and humanistic characteristics, and design thinking can be elevated from the "material level" to the "system level". Experts such as Chen Qiren, a professor in the Department of Architecture at Kaohsiung University, believe that most of the works of students from mainland universities show high quality, and have accurate grasp of the theme of beautiful rural homestays and appropriately grasp the design. At the award ceremony, intangible cultural heritage performances such as "Banqiao Road Love" further demonstrated the traditional culture with unique Taizhou characteristics. Experts and industry insiders from both sides of the Taiwan Strait also brainstormed on how to use B&Bs and other places to promote the construction of beautiful villages through B&B development micro forums, discuss the development prospects, concepts, practices, etc., and put forward suggestions.
