The Mao Dun Literature Newcomer Award is a literary award approved by the Secretariat of the Party Group of the China Writers Association and sponsored by the Chinese Literature Foundation. Since its establishment in 2015, this award has been successfully held for three sessions, encouraging and supporting a group of new literary talents with development potential and influentiality, achieving good social benefits and promoting the prosperity and development of Chinese literature. According to the opinions of the Party Group of the China Writers Association, the "Mao Dun Literature Newcomer Award" has been renamed as the "Mao Dun Newcomer Award" since this session. It was initiated by the Chinese Literature Foundation and co-organized with the Zhejiang Writers Association and the Tongxiang Municipal People's Government. The award evaluation work will be launched in July 2021. The following notice is now issued on the application for awards:
1. Award settings
This award will be selected for 10 Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Traditional Literature Group) and 10 Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Online Literature Group).
2. The application entity
1. The application unit of the Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Traditional Literature Group) is members of various groups of the Chinese Writers Association, the various societies under the Chinese Writers Association, and the Propaganda Bureau of the Political Work Department of the Military Commission; the application unit can recommend no more than 2 traditional literary writers at a time. The application unit of the Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Online Literature Group) is a member of the various groups of the Chinese Writers Association; the application unit can recommend no more than 5 online literature writers at one time.
3. Organizing committee members and jury committee members can jointly recommend more than 3 people, and 1 traditional literary writer or 1 online literary writer can be recommended each time; under the same group, no more than 2 writers participating in the joint recommendation of each member shall be recommended.
3. Application standards
Mao Dun Newcomer Award selection, adhere to the people-centered creative orientation, adhere to the principle of respecting morality and art, and adhere to the unity of character and literature. For specific conditions, please recommend writers who participate in the award evaluation in accordance with the "Regulations on the Medal of the Fourth Mao Dun Newcomer Award" (see Appendix 1).
4. Application materials
1. Fill in the complete electronic and paper version of the "4th Mao Dun Newcomer Award Application Form".
2. The applicant must be born after January 1, 1976. Please review it by the recommendation unit (recommendator). Please attach a copy of the applicant's ID card when filing.
3. The applicants of the Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Traditional Literature Group) provide 5 sets of publicly published representative works, signed or stamped by the author as a book for award evaluation; the applicants of the Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Online Literature Group) provide electronic versions of the finished works that represent the personal creative style, and electronic versions of the works currently being serialized. Applicants of the Mao Dun Newcomer Award (Online Literature Group) must also provide screenshots of the work reading volume interface as of July 1, 2021.
5. Recommended application procedures and requirements
1. The recommended application unit must carefully screen and review the applicant, fill in and summarize the materials according to the notice, and submit them to the Chinese Literature Foundation before August 20, 2021 (the express delivery time shall prevail). The deadline is invalid.
2. Written application materials should be complete and stamped with the official seal of the recommendation unit (or the signature of the recommender), and the electronic documents should be read normally.
3. The organizing committee invites literary experts and scholars to form a jury committee to review the works and related materials submitted and recommended by each unit. The review results will be announced to the public in October 2021.

6. Other matters
In order to promote the development of literary public welfare, the Chinese Literature Foundation will invite the Mao Dun Newcomer Award winner to participate in at least one literary public welfare activity within two years after winning the award. Once an applicant applies for the Newcomer Award, it is deemed to have agreed to make a commitment to participate.
