Regarding the detention of the Ever Given ship by the Egyptian court, Ever Given ship issued a statement on April 14, with the specific content as follows:
Ever Given ship said that on April 14, it received a notice from the Japanese owner of the chartered Ever Given ship (EVER GIVEN) that the ship had received an official seizure order from the Egyptian court on April 13.
Suez Canal Authority immediately applied to the Egyptian court for judicial detention of the "Evergiant" ship and was approved.
According to the information released by the British Mutual Insurance Association, which belongs to the owner, the Suez Canal Authority submitted a compensation of US$916 million to the owner on April 7, including US$300 million in rescue costs, US$300 million in goodwill loss costs, and other losses, and most of the costs were not informed of the calculation basis and there was a lack of relevant certificates.
For this reason, the owner of the "Ever Given" ship was negotiated with the Suez Canal Authority on April 12, but the two sides were unable to reach a consensus.
In this regard, Evergreen Shipping not only continues to urge all parties to reach a settlement agreement as soon as possible, which is conducive to the early release of the seizure, but also understands the content and scope of the seizure order through relevant channels, and studies the feasibility of the separate handling plan for ship freight. It hopes that the cargo on board can be delivered to the destination as soon as possible, minimize the adverse impact and complete the mission of cargo entrusted by the cargo owner as soon as possible.
