Albanian Parliament Election voting ended at 7 pm local time on April 25th. The Central Election Commission of Albania announced that the turnout rate on that day was 47.94%, slightly higher than the turnout rate in parliamentary elections four years ago.
Statistics released by the Central Election Commission of Albania showed that 1720,503 Albanians voted in the election that day, accounting for 47.94% of the total number of voters. In the 2017 parliamentary elections, the number of voters voted was 1613,960, accounting for 46.77% of the total number of voters. This shows that the turnout rate in this parliamentary election has increased slightly compared to the last time. The Central Election Commission of Albania said the vote count will be completed within the next 48 hours.
Albanian Parliament has 140 seats, re-elected every four years. A total of 1,841 candidates participated in the election on behalf of 12 political parties, party alliances and independent candidates respectively. There are 5,199 polling stations across the country, with more than 3.6 million voters.
After the voting ended that day, multiple political parties claimed to win the election. Ilirjan Celibashi, chairman of the Central Election Commission of Albania, said in an interview that it is too early to predict the election results, but the election process is calm and safe. In this election, the first time in history, the electronic voting system was used. In the capital, Albania, about 23,600 people voted electronically, but during the election, 144 polling stations encountered technical problems.
