Today (June 9), QS Education Group officially released the 2023 World University Rankings. This year, a total of 1,418 colleges and universities from different countries and regions around the world were on the list. Among them, has a total of 106 universities in China, including 71 mainland universities, 7 Hong Kong universities, 2 Macau universities, and 26 Taiwanese universities.
In this ranking, Peking University ranked the highest in China (mainland), ranking rose 6 places to 12th, which is the highest ranking of the school since the QS world university ranking was compiled in 2004. Tsinghua University rose 3 places to rank 14th, setting its highest ranking in the QS world university rankings.
Among all major universities, MIT has won the world ranking first for 11 consecutive years, Cambridge University ranks second in the world, and Stanford University ranks third in . The top three universities in Asia are: National University of Singapore ranked 11th in the world, Peking University surpassed Nanyang Technological University for the first time, ranking 2nd in Asia and 12th in the world; Tsinghua University ranked 14th in the world, ranking third in Asia.

1. Academic reputation (40%) : Based on questionnaire feedback from more than 151,000 scholars.
2. Employer Reputation (10%) : Based on questionnaire feedback from more than 99,000 employers on the relationship between university and graduate employment.
3. Unit Faculty Paper Citations (20%) : Measure research influence and is derived by dividing the total number of citations from university research papers within five years by the number of faculty members at the university.
4. Teacher-student ratio (20%) : Represents the teaching scale, dividing the number of students by the number of teachers, and is used to refer to the class size of the selected university in the global student group.
5. International Teacher Proportion (5%) : One of the two internationalization indicators of QS, measuring the proportion of teachers in a university in non-nationals.
6. International Student Proportion (5%) : The second of the two internationalization indicators of QS, measuring the proportion of non-national student groups in a university, which can also indicate the university's ability to attract talents from all over the world.
This year, QS has also added two new unweighted indicators:
7. Employment Results (0%) : used to evaluate students' employment ability.
8. International Research Network (0%) : Analyze international research cooperation and knowledge transfer.

This year, there are 71 mainland Chinese universities on the list, the number of universities on the list is third in the world, second only to the United States (201) and the United Kingdom (90).
Among the mainland Chinese universities, Peking University ranks 12th in the world and 2nd in Asia. It is the highest-ranked institution in China. Tsinghua University ranks 14th place in the world , up 3 places from last year. The significant advantages of these two universities are attributed to the improvement of the QS research impact indicators (number of citations for faculty papers by unit) and the teacher-student ratio indicators (representing the teaching scale).
In addition to Tsinghua and Peking University, many mainland universities have achieved the best results in the QS world university rankings in this ranking.
Fudan University ranked 34th in the world , down 3 places from last year; Zhejiang University ranked 42nd in the world , up 3 places from last year; Shanghai Jiaotong University ranked 46th in the world, up 3 places from last year; China University of Science and Technology ranked 94th in the world, up 4 places from last year .
