According to the Economic Daily in Taiwan on July 10, the prospects of the semiconductor industry have been constantly rumored recently, and TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin posted at a previous shareholder meeting that "capital expenditure will definitely exceed US$40 billion next year." TSMC's view on the prosperity of the industry and long-term growth performance next year have become the trend of the technology industry.

The legal person originally expected that if TSMC's third-quarter revenue was calculated in US dollars, the quarterly growth rate would converge to a low single-digit percentage. However, due to the steady pace of market structure adjustments, TSMC's US dollar revenue growth in the third quarter is expected to be around 6%, and the New Taiwan dollar's quarterly growth rate has an opportunity to look at 8%, and the company's annual US dollar revenue growth of 30% is expected to remain.
TSMC has announced that its consolidated revenue in June was NT$175.874 billion, a decrease of 5.3% from May, which hit a record high, but it increased by 18.5% from the same period last year, the second highest in a single month. At the same time, the exchange rate favorable factor balances TSMC's second-quarter revenue and exceeds the high standard in New Taiwan dollars. If calculated in US dollars, it is approximately in line with the company's expectations. According to the legal person's analysis, the TSMC's exchange rate assumption conversion basis for the second quarter was about 3-4% lower than the actual situation. If exchange rate factors are deducted, the revenue growth performance will roughly meet expectations.
TSMC recently released its outlook showing that it expects consolidated revenue in the second quarter to be between US$17.6 billion and US$18.2 billion, with US dollar revenue increasing by about 0.2% to about 3.6%. If calculated based on the intermediate value, the quarterly increase is about 1.9%.

Based on the exchange rate assumption of TSMC at that time, the conversion was NT$28.8 to 1 US dollar, and the revenue in the second quarter was about NT$506.88 billion to NT$524.16 billion; benefiting from the exchange rate hitchhiking, TSMC's revenue in the second quarter was actually NT$534.141 billion, which exceeded NT$530 billion and exceeded the original NT$50 billion, with a quarterly growth of about 8.8%. In terms of the advancement of
technology, compared with the advanced process application blueprint updated by TSMC, the industry believes that since the actual adoption of advanced processes depends on customer needs, flagship smartphones, data center servers, AI accelerators, advanced game consoles, etc. will be upgraded to use more 3nm high-end process support performance to enhance competitiveness as soon as possible.
As for other medium and low-level or Netcom upgrades, they are still concentrated in the 7nm family and will gradually move into 4nm in 2023. Whether the development of related trends will change to slow down or accelerate will also be explained at TSMC’s meeting on Thursday.
