Among the 7 models released this time, there are 2 Class A cars, 1 Class B cars, and 4 SUV models. All test vehicles are purchased from each model 4S store by the C-NCAP Management Center. The total cost of car purchase is about 3.723 million yuan. This batch of 7 models involves 4 independent brands and 3 joint venture brands, of which 2 models are voluntarily applied for evaluation.

The first AEB trial started on December 24, 2018, and the last trial was completed on April 12. All models are subjected to AEB tests, pedestrian protection tests, three real vehicle collision tests and whip tests in turn according to the "C-NCAP Management Rules (2018 Edition)" and finally scored and star ratings are performed according to the C-NCAP regulations. C-NCAP's car selection principle is a new model within two years. 2018 version of the rules started to be studied and officially implemented. The rules have newly added pedestrian protection tests and AEB tests, and the original test projects have also been improved and stricter, and the difficulty continues to increase compared to the previous version. Because the C-NCAP Management Center always maintains communication and exchanges with the industry during the rule research process, most companies can follow the pace of C-NCAP to develop and improve new products according to new rules, and quickly reflect the results of security technology improvement into the evaluation results.

Through the evaluation results of the 7 models released this time, we can see that most models have achieved good results of 5 stars. The front double airbags, side airbags, , front seat belt pretensioner and force limiter, front seat belt reminder device, and vehicle stability control system ESC all reached 100% configuration rate; the side air curtain configuration rate also reached 85.7%. For the newly added automatic emergency braking system AEB in the 2018 version, the standard configuration of all models appears for the first time. In order to obtain better pedestrian protection performance, some models use active pop-up hood technology. If the vehicle hits a pedestrian, the damage to pedestrians can be greatly reduced.

Of course, some models have been finalized and produced before the implementation of the 2018 version of the rules, and have not yet been correspondingly improved, and the evaluation results are not particularly ideal. Improvement of higher performance of products requires a process, and enterprises must respond extremely quickly and actively invest to meet the pace of rapid development of C-NCAP.
