Pengzhen , because it is close to Yangliu River , it once flourished in water transportation and has become a famous water wharf in the Chengdu Plain.
Although, with the development of the times and the changes of cities, the water wharf used to be quiet in history with the changes of the Yangliu River, those past stories were still preserved in the old people's dragon gate formation -
Pengzhen, which was once housed in Jucheng City in the Ming Dynasty, was originally named Yongfengchang, and was destroyed in war in the late Ming Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, the Peng Duanshu family from Danling moved here. The Peng family was a prominent family. This place was renamed Pengjiachang in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, also known as Pengchang . In the early years of the Republic of China, Pengjiachang was renamed Pengzhen, and later Pengzhen Township was renamed Pengzhen Township. In 1958, Pengzhen was merged into Dongfeng Commune, and later it was divided into Pengzhen Commune and Township, and was renamed as a town in 1984.
Yangliuhe
According to Chen Weifang, Shuangliu local cultural and historical expert, Peng Town has a long history and profound cultural heritage. The town was established in the first year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 360 years. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was destroyed and rebuilt due to war.

In the old days, Pengzhen built many temples and pavilions such as Guandi Temple , Wenchang Temple, Randeng Temple, Guanyin Temple, Wanniantai, Chuanzhu Palace, Fuguang Pavilion, Jiangxi Pavilion, Guangdong Pavilion, Tianyi Floor, Di6 Floor and other temples. Peng Town originally had twelve streets and alleys including Shanghe Street, Xiahe Street, East Street, West Street, Xin Street, Zhengda Street, Yongfeng Street, Douli City Street, Mashi Street, Jishi Street, Yushiguai Street, and Huguangguan Street. It is said that there are seven gates at the beginning and end of the streets and alleys and at the east and west yards, and there are also special guards on duty to prevent thieves.
Pengzhen is a day of rushing. The market is mainly distributed in Qiaotouhe Bianmashiba, Doulishi Street, Xiayanhe Street, Yongfeng Street and Xinjie, especially Qiaotouhe River, Mashiba Street is the most concentrated. In the lively market, there are all kinds of pigs, animals, chickens, ducks, poultry and eggs, grains and grains, agricultural supplies, daily miscellaneous seeds, seeds, fruits and vegetables, tobacco and leaves and bamboo weaving, as well as various small department stores, and they are traded in categories.

According to historical records, Peng Town was born and prosperous because of the Yangliu River - the water transportation of Yangliu River closely linked Peng Town with other areas, and the materials from all neighbors in the four towns and neighbors were distributed, making the town more prosperous. For a time, boats and oars came and went on the river, and merchants from all over the world flocked to ants, and Pengzhen became a veritable prosperous water town. At that time, there were nearly a hundred wooden boats moored on the water wharf of Pengzhen every day. The lights reflected the river water, the river wind blew, and the lights in the water were scattered. In fact, not only Pengzhen at that time, but several towns along the Yangliu River were also quite prosperous during the water transportation era, such as Taojiadu in Huangshui Town.

It is said that Pengzhen Old Tea House is the only house that survived a fire in Pengzhen a hundred years ago. Not far from the old teahouse, there was once a bridge called the "first bridge". It was built because the river water surged and the waves were surging in summer and autumn, and villagers on both sides of the river were dangerously difficult to cross the river. In the 28th year of Qianlong (1763), the then magistrate Xu Yue was sympathetic to the people and built the bridge under his advocacy. Peng Duanshu, the "Three Talents in Sichuan in the Qing Dynasty", wrote the "First Bridge Record" to record his events, praising Xu Yue's achievements in Jichuan, and wrote "First Spring Wave" by himself, which is also one of the eight ancient scenes of Shuangliu. Brother Liu Yuan (a Jinshi of Bingchen, Jiaqing, Qing Dynasty, and entered the Hanlin Academy) wrote a poem about "The First Spring Wave": "The mountains are shining, grass is green and green, and the first bridge is full of spring waves. A small boat crosses the willow bank, and the scattered people should call themselves smoke waves." Later, the "First Bridge" was destroyed by the flood and was converted into the "People's Bridge" in 1971, 30 meters away from the original site.
▲Now Renmin Bridge
According to teacher Chen Weifang, lion lamp performance was once one of the traditional folk cultures of Pengzhen. According to legend, during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the Yangliu River often flooded. While officials organized local villagers to build water conservancy, the people also spontaneously organized lion lantern performance groups to tour around in order to curb evil and eliminate disasters and eliminate floods.Among them, there are dozens of items such as breaking the formation (showing the civil and military lion drama) and praising the lottery (speaking four words and eight sentences). The performance shows include climbing high poles, jumping on the stage, jumping on the dragon gate, exploring treasures in the dragon palace, and strangling lions. They are wonderful and amazing.
▲Pengzhen Old Street
It is said that at that time, Pengzhen mainly produced hemp and sold it to all parts of the country. Since there were no roads before liberation, the Paoge organization set up a minimum dock in Yangliu River and built the first floor and the sixth floor on both sides of the river to guard the Yangliu River wharf. Follow the stone stairs of Yangliu River to go down the river. This is the former shipping dock. On the stone walls along the street along the river, there are stone holes where boatmen moored boats and tied cables, and the smooth traces are vivid in my mind.
River channel change
According to historical records: Muma Mountain in the early years was not suitable for farming. Although the two sides of the mountain surrounded Jinjiang and Yangliu River, they could only sigh on the mountain. Without water, farming is in trouble. In the Qing Dynasty, people dug out ponds in the mountains to store summer rainwater as a source of irrigation water. In this way, working in the mountains is naturally very hard, but it also forms people's strength and tenacity. The hard work has produced fruitful fruits. By the middle of Qianlong's reign, Mumashan's farming was well-known. The corn, sweet potato, taro, sugarcane, ginger, red potato, white potato, peanut, and Erjingtiao sea pepper produced were of high quality and were well-known in the western Sichuan Bazi. The abundant products must eventually be exchanged, and the Yangliu River, which flows day and night at the foot of the mountain, is a convenient passage.
In people's impression, the straight willow river is no longer very eye-catching. But in fact, the once Willow River is actually curved like willow branches. Why did it become what it is now? That's because when the "People's Bridge" was built in 1971, the bends of the Yangliu River in the past were abandoned, and the slogan "The road at the end of the ditches is straight and the trees are lined" was used to cut the bends and straighten the Yangliu River into its current appearance.
Even now, along the willow river bank, some abandoned ancient river channels are still everywhere, some are transformed into fish ponds by villagers "local materials", while others have dried up. Now, the years have faded the past, the willow river has towering trees, and the dense forests on both sides of the river are complementary to each other, and they are mixed with the same stilt houses, tea shops and shops on the streets on the dock, forming a free life for the common people who do not compete for prosperity with the city, as if they are isolated from the world, peaceful and peaceful.
Lane and Pavilion
Nowadays, in Guanyin Pavilion in Pengzhen, buildings with gray tiles and white walls, bricks and wood structures are like classic black and white works from the old photo studio 30 years ago, freezing eternal memories and years... This is a street and alley built by the river in Pengzhen, which consists of three parts, namely "New Street", " Guanyin Pavilion " and the water wharf are closely connected, forming a unique scenery of one alley, one pavilion, and one pier.
Its simple and bright architectural facade and simple and elegant style are unique. Whether it is its simple style or the profound culture it contains, it has extraordinary appeal to people who want to touch history through ancient streets.
The fully wooden structure of the dock-style building has a strong style of western Sichuan houses, with different widths and narrowness, chaotic and orderly, and reasonable design of the scale space. Through it, the ancient streets and alleys are like mazes, with the eaves and corners of the houses or the corners of the ancient banyan trees, appearing and disappearing from time to time, making people touch the broken walls in the vicissitudes of history, as if they saw the "Brother Pao" standing at the river wharf with his hands on his hips, waiting for the passing merchants to walk down the wharf to pay the mountain and give gifts.
▲Ware to prevent fires from burning? According to 87-year-old Grandma Zhu, the architectural essence of Peng Town was concentrated in the "Xinjie" and "Guanyin Pavilion" areas of Yangliu River. Eaves grow on the "Xinjie" street to enclose the heavenly court, and the streets near the river and the stilt houses that live on the river are so interesting. Unfortunately, the only things that are preserved today are broken walls.
What made Grandma Zhu happy is that since the beginning of this year, the District Planning and Construction Bureau has hired experts to inspect Pengzhen on-site inspections, planned the old streets of Pengzhen, and studied the upgrading and transformation of the two banks of the Yangliu River. I believe that in the near future, the stories of Pengzhen Water Wharf will be unblocked one by one.
