Before reading the guide, you might as well learn about Dongshan Island first. It is blunt to say that many friends across the country have never heard of it. Even if there are many people in Fujian Province who don’t know it. Looking at it from another perspective, it is precisely because it is located in a corner and has not been over-developed that what we can see is the better protected natural scenery and rich local customs. I think this is exactly what everyone pursues? Dongshan Island is the second largest island in Fujian Province and the seventh largest island in China. It is affiliated to Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is between Xiamen City and Shantou, Guangdong Province. It covers an area of about 220 square kilometers and has a population of only more than 200,000. The main attractions include Emperor Temple, Fengdong Stone, Dongmenyu , Dongshan Oil Painting Academy, Jinluan Bay, Maluan Bay , Sufengshan Ringdao Road , Yanya Village, Fishbone Sand Case, etc.
How to go to Dongshan Island?
Regarding transportation, this is probably the place I want to complain about the most about Dongshan Island. You can only take Yunxiao Station by taking the high-speed train, and then transfer to Yunxiao to Dongshan's dedicated bus, and there is only one bus line. You can get off by bus by Xipu Town station or Tongling Town station. I personally recommend getting off in Tongling Town, because the main attractions are concentrated here. In addition, I found that Dongshan Island does not have a bus from Tongling Town to Jinluan Bay Beach, Sufengshan Ringdao Road and other attractions. If tourists want to arrive at these places, they can only reach them through tricycle, shared electric vehicles, and Didi Taxi and and other means of transportation. It is more or less inconvenient, so if you have the conditions, it is best to travel by yourself. Moreover, the roads on Dongshan Island are well built. Except for Dongmen Island and Fishbone Sandbank, you can drive to other attractions. It is understood that Dongshan Island will have a high-speed train station in a few years, and Zhangzhou Airport may also be located here. At that time, Dongshan Island is likely to become the second Sanya, so if you want to experience a real island tour, I will give you two words "as early".

In recent years, with the booming development of Dongshan Island's tourism industry, hotels and homestays have also emerged like mushrooms after a rain. The prices of off-season and peak season are quite different, so if the time is arranged, it is naturally better to travel in the off-season. If you like cultural landscapes and scenic spots, it is recommended to stay in the Dingjie and Park Street B&B in Tongling Town. From the perspective of clean, hygienic and economical, I personally recommend Yihe Sketch Inn at No. 99 Park Street. It is located at the end of Dongshan Park Street. It is only 3 minutes walk from Guandi Temple, a must-see check-in point on Dongshan Island, and only 5 minutes to the wind and rocks. If you want to see the sea, it is only 5 minutes to walk to the nearest Nanmen Bay. The key is that the price is relatively affordable, which most people can accept. It is worth mentioning that Yihe Sketch Inn was once the location of of Tongling Middle School. After renovation, the first floor of the building is now open as the exhibition hall of Dongshan Oil Painting Academy. When you stay here, you can not only visit nearby attractions and enjoy oil paintings from famous artists from all over the country. It is really a killing of two birds with one stone.
If you have more budgets and want to stay in a more advanced hotel, I personally think that the Island Hotel not far from Yihe Sketch Inn is also a good choice. This was once the filming location of Hunan Satellite TV's "We Are Here·Dongshan Station" and is a veritable Internet celebrity hotel.

Tongling Town is an ancient cultural city that has been around for more than 600 years. It has a wealth of things and a brilliant place. It is known as the "Seaside Zou and Lu" and is the economic and cultural center of Dongshan County. This is also the hometown of the Ming Dynasty scholar Huang Daozhou and the Qing Dynasty calligrapher and painter Ma Zhaolin . "Nanming Academy" (Wengong Temple) is the lecture hall of Zhu Xi, the master of Neo-Confucianism in Ming Dynasty. Tongling Guandi Temple is the Xiangyuan ancestral temple of more than 470 Guandi Temples in Taiwan. The Dongshan wind-moving stone ranks among the most 60 wind-moving stones in the country because of its strange, dangerous and hanging, and is known as "the world's most strange stone."
In addition, Tongling Town also has the Dongshan Oil Painting Academy, a sketching and academic seminar base of Fujian Art Association and Fujian Oil Painting Society. It is a rare "Anti-Japanese Consortium Monument" in the country and the only "Anti-Japanese Consortium Monument" in Fujian. It is located in Dongmenyu, the lowest altitude temple in the country, and there are several filming locations in Nanmen Bay, etc. Compared with watching the sea and sunrise, I personally think that Tongling Town has a profound and long history and culture is more worth visiting. Therefore, if you come to Dongshan Island for tourism, it is best to arrange to stay in Tongling Town on the first day.
Take my third trip to Dongshan Island as an example. The first day was at 11:30 noon and arrived in Tongling Town. After checking in Yihe Sketch Inn, I took a break. Departing at 12:30, I wandered along Park Street towards the oldest top street in Tongling Town. I walked through the rows of Ming and Qing buildings along the way, looked at the mottled old houses, and felt the long history and profound cultural heritage of Tongling Town. The Dingjie seems to be short, but it has a history of more than 600 years. More than 10 Jinshis appeared here in the Ming and Qing dynasties, including the more familiar Huangdaozhou, Tang Dynasty Yi, etc., and now more than 10 former residences of celebrities have been retained well.

With the recommendation of a friend, I went to the internet celebrity store "Uncle Chen's Fish Ball Shop" on Sufeng Road to settle for lunch. The fish balls started from his grandfather's generation, so they can also be called the local time-honored brand. While inheriting the previous generation, he has also continued to add more innovations and changes. Now the "Chen Uncle's Fish Ball Shop" is preparing to open a third branch in Dongshan Island. In addition to the must-order fish balls, I personally recommend everyone to try mango sea stone flower and seaweed. Although the price is a bit expensive, it is indeed delicious.
Back to Yihe Sketch Inn from Uncle Chen’s fish ball shop, I still chose to walk. The difference is that this route is not going to Dingjie and Park Street, but through the aquatic road and go around Nanmen Bay, and follow the South Gate Seawall toward Fisherman’s Wharf . If you can’t figure out the direction, you might as well navigate it on your phone. In fact, there are only a few roads, which is not difficult to tell. When I arrived at the South Gate Seawall, it was almost 4 pm. I could go in and take a look at the Emperor Baosheng in the way. The small square in front of the King of Zhenjun Palace is the filming location of the movie "Left Ear". As the sky gradually darkened, the South Gate Seawall began to become lively. Saying goodbye to the scorching daytime, both tourists and locals would come here to enjoy the blowing of the sea breeze. After nightfall, it would be a good idea to go to the Fisherman's Wharf.
Back to Yihe Sketch Inn, it was already past 9 o'clock in the evening. After washing up, I went to bed and rest because the next day I had to get up early and have a bowl of ancient breakfast unique to Dongshan Island - rice yuan.The method of making rice balls is not complicated. It is to crush the rice, then slowly boil it into a rice paste over low heat, and finally add salt and scallion oil, stir and then it can be eaten. It is said that fishermen on Dongshan Island eat a bowl of rice dumplings before going to sea every day, because rice dumplings are closed early, so if you want to try it, try to get to the rice dumplings before 7 o'clock.
When you come to Dongshan Island, the Fengdongshi Scenic Spot is a must-visit scenic spot. It is the main scenic spot of Dongshan Island and a national 4A-level tourist attraction with a total area of 150,000 square meters. Famous generals and celebrities from all generations frequently visited Tongshan to watch the sea and watched the wind, and left behind many poems and chants. The creation is beautiful and the scenic spots are everywhere in Tongling. Most of these scenic spots are in Fengdongshi Scenic Area. After I finished eating rice dumplings, although it was still early, the Fengdongshi Scenic Area opened to tourists from 7 a.m., so entering the scenic area early can not only avoid the scorching heat, but also avoid the peak of tourists. The Fengdong Stone Scenic Area is not big. The main attractions include Tongling Guandi Temple, Baozhi Temple, , Fengdong Stone, Dongshan County Museum, zodiac memorial hall, stele corridor, wooden plank road, etc. You can visit it in about three hours.
After visiting the Fengdongshi Scenic Area, it was almost ten o'clock in the morning. Although the weather began to get hotter, I decided to take a boat to Dongmenyu for a walk. Dongmen Island, also known as Tayu, covers an area of nearly 1 square kilometer. It is an island with an area of nearly "earth". It is located outside the sea outside the east gate of Tongshan Ancient City. It is famous for its strange reefs, sweet cave springs and numerous historical sites. It is listed as one of the top ten scenic spots in Fujian Province, and is also known as the four famous islands in China. Movies and TV series such as "Journey to the West", "Han Love ", "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" have been filmed on Dongmenyu.
Although Dongmen Island is not large in area, it takes at least two or three hours to visit. It was already past one pm when I returned to Yihe Sketch Inn. I packed my luggage and checked out. After finding a place to fill my stomach, I set off towards Jinluan Mingdu Seaview Apartment in Jinluan Bay. I checked here on the second night of my trip to Dongshan Island.
Watch the sea and watch the sunrise, live in Jinluan Bay
If you prefer natural scenery and want to purely watch the sunrise, the sea, and go to the beach to catch the waves, then I will recommend you to stay in Jinluan Bay without hesitation. Although there are many bays in Dongshan Island, Jinluan Bay and Sufeng Mountain are recognized as the best spots to watch the sunrise, and there are almost no hotels and B&Bs in Sufeng Mountain, so Jinluan Bay is the only choice. The third time I visited Dongshan Island, I specially arranged to stay in the sea view apartment in the Jinluan Mingdu property near Jinluan Bay. Because it happened to be in the center of Jinluan Bay, the view was very wide, and the invincible sea view was full of views. You can see the beautiful sunrise in the balcony of the room. When you check here, you can reach the Jinluan Bay Beach in just a few minutes walk. The sea water and beach here are very clean and there are few tourists. I feel that it is far better than Maluan Bay.
Watching the sunrise is the second day, and the beauty of Jinluan Bay is not limited to sunrise. It is also a happy and interesting thing to walk on the beach by the beach in the evening. Here I would like to remind everyone to do a good job of sun protection, especially in summer, from 8 am to 9 pm to 3 pm, the weather is still relatively hot. If you have any, use sunscreen, sun hat, and skin clothes to avoid sunburn on your skin. If I had a choice, I wouldn't go to the beach to play at this time, because I really couldn't hold it. At first I wanted to go back to my apartment to escape the summer heat, but I accidentally found a coffee shop called "arts" in the famous capital of Jinluan. So I discussed with my friends and decided to go inside to blow up the air conditioner, drink a cold drink, and talk about the ancient fairy. When the sun sets, I went to Jinluan Bay to "count the waves one by one."
The sun sets, and the Jinluan Bay at 6 o'clock in the evening looks particularly gentle and charming.Although this is not the first time I have seen the sea, whenever I come to the sea, I can always play with the waves openly like a child, and then look at the people around me. I think this is the charm of the sea. The endless sea is so big that people can see their own insignificance that they can throw away any worries first. This time when I arrived in Jinluan Bay, I was lucky enough to see that local fishermen were using the ancient fishing method to "lashan.com" to collect nets and fish. It is precisely because of this group of hardworking and simple Dongshan Island fishermen that we foreign tourists can taste all kinds of delicious seafood.
When it comes to seafood, it is right to come to Dongshan Island, because it is the intersection of the famous southern Fujian fishing ground and the eastern Guangdong fishing ground. It produces a variety of seafood, and the most popular one is Xiaoguan. There are many seafood restaurants and seafood food stalls on Dongshan Island, and the prices are quite reasonable. At least there will be no such phenomenon as Sanya and Qingdao . If you stay in an apartment hotel with a kitchen, you can also go to the vegetable market to buy some seafood and cook it yourself. During the three days and two nights on Dongshan Island, seafood made me almost doubt my life. It was so satisfying. If you ask me where to eat seafood, if you want high-end ones, go to Chunqiu Benwei. This restaurant is the number one brand of catering in Dongshan. It has very high reputation and reputation, and of course the price will be higher. If you want to consume the mass, go to the Yanjie food stall. It is popular and has a lot of portions, but the dining environment will be relatively noisy. If you like the lively, come here.
When I left Dongshan Island, I also brought a box of "two or three" seafood boxes back to share with my family. This is also a unique souvenir on Dongshan Island. There are more than 10 kinds of seafood cut, washed and vacuum-packed in a box. Pour it into the pot every time you cook it, saving time and trouble. We pursue the word "fresh" for seafood. If you want to bring a box of "two or three" seafood boxes home, remember to finish it as soon as possible.
In order to see the sunrise, I came to Jinluan Bay early the next day. Unfortunately, the clouds were a little thick, so I didn’t see the moment when the sun rose from the sea. However, the changing layers of the sky color and the moment when the sun suddenly showed its face from the clouds still made me excited. It is worth mentioning that the sea water and beaches in Jinluan Bay are relatively clean. Under the sunlight, the beaches in Jinluan Bay can see mirror-like reflections, and the photos taken casually have beautiful light and shadow effects.
After watching the sunrise in Jinluan Bay, you can go back to the hotel to sleep. If you are not sleepy, you can go to Sufeng Mountain Ring Road to look at the sea. Sufeng Mountain is 274 meters above sea level and is the main peak of Dongshan Island. Sufeng Mountain Ring Road is built against the mountains and seas. It is not only a good place to watch the sea and watch the sunrise, but also this highway is a beautiful scenery, especially at the corner, which has become a place where many people check in and sign in to Dongshan Island.
If it weren't for the intention of searching, Yanya Village would not be easily discovered. Many people have missed Yanya Village when they come to Dongshan Island. They walked along Sufengshan Ring Road and arrived at the junction of the beautiful Jinluan Bay and Donggu Bay. You will find an inconspicuous road sign. Yanya Village, the most primitive fisherman village in Dongshan Island, enters from here. Yanya Village has not yet been equipped with tap water. Can you imagine how primitive and simple this place is. Most of the younger generation choose to move and go out to work, while the elderly who insist on waiting here are probably used to the grass, tree, and sea here day by day. I am used to this thing and can’t explain it clearly, but I have been entangled with everyone for the rest of my life.
Dongshan Island, we will see you again
This guide was completed after my third trip to Dongshan Island. In my opinion, three days and two nights are the best arrangement. The itinerary is not too fast. You can not only feel the cultural landscape of Dongshan Island, but also enjoy the most beautiful sunrise and the sea. The little-known Yanya Village is not left, and you have a relaxed and enjoyable time. This is the correct way to open a trip to Dongshan Island.I personally like Dongshan Island very much, and I believe I will definitely come back in the future.

Tips:
1. Some people think that living in Jinluan Bay area on the first day and Tongling Town on the second day, is it okay? If it is a self-driving tour, it is not a big problem. If not, it is recommended to stay in Tongling Town on the first day and Jinluan Bay on the second day, because Sufeng Mountain and Yanya Village are both close to Jinluan Bay.
2. The bus system of Dongshan Island is not well developed. If you want to return to Yunxiao High-speed Railway Station from Dongshan Island, you either take a bus at Xipu Town Station or Tongling Town Station. There are more than a dozen ride points along the county of the bus line. Or you can only take a private car (average carpooling costs 25 yuan per person, and a chartered bus costs 100 yuan). There is another option, which is to take a Didi taxi directly, which is relatively higher.
3. If it is not a self-driving tour, the island's attractions can choose to take tricycles, shared electric vehicles, Didi taxi, or rent an electric vehicle with a price of 80 yuan per day.
4. The coastline of Maluan Bay is not as good as that of Jinluan Bay, and it is crowded, so you can't go there; the fish bone sandbank can only be seen when the tide is low, and you can feel beautiful when you look down. If you don't have a drone, you can give up.
5. When visiting Dongshan Island in summer, be sure to pay attention to sun protection.
