According to Taiwanese media reports, Taichung mayor Lu Xiuyan said on Facebook today (October 1) that Taiwan is a front-line team in the world. As the only female leader among the "Six Capitals", Lu Xiuyan has the responsibility to promote gender equality and include diverse gender perspectives in municipal decision-making, and take the lead in the municipal government to be a model for the people.
Lu Xiuyan emphasized that the number of female first-level supervisors in Taichung City Government reached 45%, and 8 women were appointed as district mayors, the number was the first in the "Six Capitals".
Lu Xiuyan said that when she took office, the Taichung Municipal Government had a total of 216 committees. The government stipulated that if more than one-third of the members of each committee were women, only 148 committees met the gender quota equality. After more than three years of hard work, only one committee in Taichung did not meet the standards, and 100% of the gender diversity will be completed next time the term changes.
Lu Xiuyan said she was proud that "Women's Awakening" in Taichung will not be a slogan, Taichung will lead the trend and be a leading city for gender equality.
