Thirteen years ago, he became a physically disabled person and a minimum living allowance household, and he still owed a lot of debts. Later, he started a business with hard work and opened a black bone chicken farm. Not only did he become more and more prosperous, but he also led the villagers to breed together and helped villagers increase their income.
His name is Chen Wei, and he is a villager in Group 4, Yangping Village, Luotian Town, Wanzhou District. In the eyes of other villagers, Chen Wei is a model of "disable body and strong ambition". Up to now, a total of 148 households in Yangping Village have joined Chen Wei's "Qingshan Kaka Wubiao Chicken Breeding Cooperative". The total number of black bone chickens breeding has reached more than 10,000, which can bring hundreds of thousands of yuan in income to villagers every year.
Recently, Chen Wei was selected for the "Chongqing Good People" list in September and October. The story of his disabled and strong ambitions and helping villagers increase their income was also revealed.
22 years old, he was seriously ill and almost paralyzed
22 years old, it should be the age when the dream sets sail. But Chen Wei's 22 years old is very unfortunate.
In 2007, 22-year-old Chen Wei and his wife Zhao Liuying went to Zhejiang to work together. Unexpectedly, during this year, he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and femoral head necrosis.
For this reason, his wife took him to seek medical treatment everywhere, not only spent all the family’s savings, but also owed more than 200,000 yuan in foreign debt.
"In December of that year, I had no way to seek medical treatment, and finally returned to my hometown with my wife. After returning home, our family was rated as a minimum living allowance household due to difficulties in life." When talking about the past, Chen Wei felt a little sad.
He has been lying in the hospital bed for three years, unable to take care of himself, and almost paralyzed. An elderly parents cannot enjoy family happiness and can only take care of his daily life. In order to maintain the family's livelihood, his wife Zhao Liuying worked short-term workers everywhere. Looking at the home full of holes, Chen Wei made up his mind to overcome the darkness of life and his own decadence.
That's it. Not long after, he started to do some manual work when he was able to sit up.
"Picking grains, pasting insoles, knitting sweaters, making small handicrafts... I thought that disability does not mean being disabled, so I did something to the best of my ability to regain my confidence in life." Chen Wei said that labor was very cheap at that time, and it was not much money to do these handicrafts, but he was still very happy and his family kept encouraging him.
As her physical condition gradually improves, Chen Wei began to contact some entrepreneurial information through TV and the Internet.
Through field investigation, Chen Wei found that his hometown is full of mountains and vast, which is suitable for the development of breeding and breeding industry.
Open a family farm to pay off debts
In 2011, Chen Wei finally proposed his entrepreneurial idea to his wife.
"Although I can't do heavy physical work, I can at least move. My hometown is suitable for the development of breeding and breeding industry, so I plan to raise chickens to increase my family's income." Chen Wei said that his wife supported her ideas very much, so the couple borrowed 20,000 yuan from relatives, bought 400 chicken seedlings, and set up a family farm. After the farm was started, Chen Wei did not dare to relax at all. While he independently learned how to raise chickens, he actually managed it. When he was busy, he could only sleep for up to four or five hours at night.
"In the process of raising black bone chickens, I have always insisted on free-range and free-range methods, so that the eggs produced are of good quality and sales will be good." Chen Wei said that in the first year of raising, he earned nearly 20,000 yuan in net income. After tasting the sweetness, he decided to expand the scale of breeding.
Through rolling development, in 2014, Chen Wei's family farm had more than 4,000 black bone chickens. Eggs are sold to Zhejiang, Guangdong and other places through various channels, with an annual net income of more than 100,000 yuan. Not only did he pay off his debts, he also withdrew from the ranks of low-income households.
Established a cooperative to drive villagers to increase their income together
Watching Chen Wei live a happy life by developing the breeding industry, villagers come to their doors to "seek the scriptures". Seeing that everyone was enthusiastic, Chen Wei was not "stingy" and decided to use his years of breeding experience to drive villagers to increase their income together.
"When I was in trouble, the villagers helped me a lot. Now I have found business opportunities and I should share them with you." Chen Wei said that you should be grateful in life.
Just like that, with a grateful heart, Chen Wei provided his chicken seedlings to farmers who were willing to breed at a cost price. If he encountered poor households in financial difficulties, Chen Wei asked him to take credit first and wait until the eggs were sold before repaying the capital.
In 2016, with the support of the local government, Chen Wei established the "Qingshan Kaka Wubone Chicken Breeding Cooperative" and adopted the "company + farmer" model to further help villagers increase their income.
Under his leadership, more and more villagers have joined the breeding industry. As of now, a total of 148 households in Yangping Village have joined the cooperative, with a total of more than 10,000 black bone chickens and an annual egg production of 100,000 kilograms, bringing villagers more than 400,000 yuan in income each year.
Not only that, Chen Wei also transferred 160 acres of land to develop flue-cured tobacco. Every year, land transfer fees and work alone can increase the income of hundreds of surrounding villagers.
"Disability does not mean disability. I hope to encourage more people through my own story!" Chen Wei told reporters.
