He'll be the first player in NBA history to play in 4 different decades

Knicks fan: He will be the first player in league history to compete in 4 different decades

Knicks fan: He will be the first player in league history to compete in 4 different decades.

[–]Mavericks jaredd5 10 points 6 hours ago

Dirk might join him low key

Mavericks fans: Nowitsky may also continue to play quietly.

[–]Warriors HereForBasketball[S] 99 points 7 hours ago*

Damn that's wild

Warriors Fan: Damn, Carter is too wild.

[–]Sarman11 71 points 7 hours ago

Only ten more years and he'll match Gordie Howe playing in 5 decades, he will be able to catch up with Gordie Howe (a legendary Canadian hockey player who played from 18 to 52 years old, is the only player who has experienced five decades in the NHL).

[–]Spurs GGezpzMuppy 147 points 6 hours ago

I’m just hoping Toronto signs him PLEASE, have a farewell tour with the team that started it all. He will be remembered as a Canadian God.

Spurs Fan: I just hope Raptors can sign him. Please let him go on a farewell tour where the dream began. Everyone will remember him as a Canadian demigod.

I saw this stat early in the season that if Vince or dirk (and I think one other player) return that they would be the first ones to do thatt

Was worried that they would both retire but this makes me happy

Come to the raptors Vince

Raptors fan: I saw this data at the beginning of the season. If Carter or Dirk still play next season, they can be the first to achieve this achievement (spanning four decades).

I was worried that they would both retire, but Carter's decision made me happy.

Go back to the Raptors, Vince.

[–]Mavericks chewbockaa 66 points 6 hours ago

That was an ugly breakup tho

Mavericks fan: But the breakup between Carter and the Raptors was not decent at the beginning.

[–]Spurs GGezpzMuppy 28 points 6 hours ago

Water under the bridge. Vince put Toronto on the map.

Spurs fans: The past is over. It was Carter who let everyone know the Raptors.

[–]Dr_tuffednuts_MD 28 points 6 hours ago

He ain't ever going back.

He will not go back.

[–]Raptors mug3n 27 points 6 hours ago

agreed. not sure where in the rotation we have room for a guy that puts up 7ppg. signing him for a victory lap doesn't seem very much like a Masai type of move anyhow.

Raptors fan: Agree. It is still uncertain whether there is room for such a person who averages 7 points per game in our lineup. But signing him just to allow him to go around the field to celebrate the victory, which doesn't seem to be Ujri's style of doing things.

[–]Spurs TryCatchRelease 99 points 7 hours ago

Naw, he's ring chasing next year in ATL.

Spurs fan: No, he will chase the championship next season in the Hawks.

[–]Bulls wowanotherburner 2248 points 7 hours ago

And the first to win the dunk contest in his 22nd season

Bulls fan: Carter will be the first to win the dunk contest in his 22nd season of the league.

[–]Magic EditingAndLayout 926 points 7 hours ago

Honestly he could have won this year.

Magic Fan: To be honest, he instinctively won this year's slam dunk contest.

[–]Pistons XolorJZ 711 points 7 hours ago

Curry probably could’ve won this year

Pistons fan: Maybe Curry can win too.

[–]Trail Blazers citrus_slinger 32 points 6 hours ago

For real, this year's dunk contest was a trafficty, especially compared to last year.

Trail Blazers fan: That's true, this year's dunk contest is simply sloppy, especially compared to last year.

[–]Lakers dxidaniel 106 points 6 hours ago

I don’t agree, that Shaq dunk by Diallo saved the show

Lakers fan: I don’t agree, Diallo’s dunk leap from O’Neal saved the dunk contest.

[–]Trail Blazers citrus_slinger 55 points 5 hours ago

That was literally the only dunk that was worth a damn in the entire content.

Trail Blazers Fan: In this year's entire dunk competition, the only dunk is the only one who can make everyone say "Damn".

[–][SAS] Manu Ginobili Primid47 140 points 8 hours ago

Somehow I completely forgot next year was 2020

Spurs fan: I don’t know what, I completely forgot next year it’s 2020.

[–]Dr_tuffednuts_MD 60 points 6 hours ago

Pretty sure its 1995.

is very sure 1995.

[–]76ers embarrassed420 20 points 5 hours ago

Can confirm I’m a little baby

76 people Fan: Then I’m still a little baby.

——————————————

[–][LAL] Kareem Abdul-Jabbar NotYourAverageWaffle 232 points 8 hours ago

This dude will play until he can’t touch rim anymore.

Lakers fan: This guy will play until the day he can’t touch the box.

[–]Knicks KDL2000 103 points 6 hours ago

Dr J. dunked when he was 60 so im all for it

Knicks fan: Dr. J can still dunk when he is 60 years old, so I support Carter to do this.

[–][LAL] Lonzo Ball jasonblohothemonster 130 points 7 hours ago

So he's here for a few more decades nice

Lakers fan: So he can stay in the league for two more years, okay

[–][MIA] Anfernee Hardaway ChaseH9499 1225 points 8 hours ago

Of course, he's just entering his second prime

Heat fan: Of course, he's just entering his second prime

Heat fan: Of course, he's just entering his second spring.

[–]Spurs blue_horse_shoe 22 points 4 hours ago

We haven't even seen his final form

Spurs fans: We haven't even seen his ultimate state yet.

[–]Warriors HereForBasketball[S] 466 points 8 hours ago

3rd prime! Raptors, Nets, Vince 2010-2020

Warriors fans: This is the third spring! Raptors, Nets, 10 to 20 years.

[–]Spurs NotFrankSalazar 128 points 6 hours ago

I was watching him the other day thinking, “fuck he can still ball, I can’t believe he’s gonna retire.”

Spurs fan: When I watched him game the day before yesterday, “duck, he can still play, I can’t believe he’s going to retire.”

[–]PopAShotAllStar 18 points 6 hours ago

15 years ago people said “half man, half a season” about him. It’s amazing he’s lasted so long. I loved having him on the mavs. He’s aged as gracefully as anyone in the league.

15 years ago, people also said he was “half man and half season.” It's really amazing that he can fight for so long. I like his experience of playing for the Mavericks. He ages gracefully like anyone else in the league.

[–]Spurs KemoE30 729 points 8 hours ago

I’m so impressed with Vince’s longevity. I remember early in his career thinking his game wasn’t going to age well bcs how dependent on athletic ability he was but the man really worked on his game and he’s honestly still a good player. I mean, he’s STILL and athletic freak.... but he really got the old man game down and murdered. Good on ya Vince.

Spurs fan: Carter's sports life is really long. I remember when he was early in his career, he thought that he wouldn't be able to get older because his playing style relies heavily on athleticism, but he really improved his playing style. To be honest, he is still a good player now. I think he is still a monster with strong athletic ability...but he really doesn't play that kind of health basketball, and he plays very elegantly. Beautiful job, Vince.

[–]Trail Blazers RatherBeYachting 233 points 7 hours ago

I remember early in his career thinking his game wasn’t going to age well bcs how dependent on athletic ability

I thought the same, and I'm sure we're not the only ones.

If someone would have told me 20 years ago that Vince Carter would still be an NBA player in 2020 I would have never believed it. It speaks volumes to how he has adjusted his game.

Trail Blazers fan: "I remember when he was early in his career, I still felt that he was not good at age because his playing style depends on athleticism."

I used to think so, and I am sure that there must be more than two of us who have this idea.

If someone said 20 years ago that Carter was still playing in the NBA in 2020, I would never believe it. This shows that his game has been adjusted a lot.

[–]Supersonics Bacon_Hero 17 points 6 hours ago

Vince is that older dude in the pick up game you expect to be able to run circles around who ends up dad dicking you on repeatml4

Supersonics fan: Carter is the kind of old man you think you can beat him up when you play jungle ball, but in the end it is him who repeatedly plays with you.

[–]artofprinceshaolin 1170 points 8 hours ago

Vince Carters will have been in the NBA longer than Zion Williamson has been alive. Let that sink in for a second.

Carter spent more time in the NBA than Zion. Let's think about what this concept is.

[–]Raptors Trillination 46 points 7 hours ago

He's already done that with a few players like Luka

Raptors fan: His NBA career is older than several players at active level, such as Doncic .

[–]Hornets Diamasaurus 46 points 5 hours ago

And current teammate Trae Young. Vince was drafted June 24, 1998 and Trae was born September 19, 1998.

Hornets Fan: And his current teammates blow the sheep. Carter participated in the draft on June 24, 1998, while Trey was born on September 19, 1998.

[–][BOS] Jaylen Brown LiftWithYourBackInc 93 points 6 hours ago

In 20 years, the top comment on a "surprising players who were in the leauge at the same time" thread will be Zion and Vince Carter. And all the nephews born in the 2010s and 2020s will be like "WTF, NO WAY!!!"

Celtics Fan: 20 years later, if there is a post saying "the players you can't imagine who once played in the league at the same time", then the number one hot reviews will definitely be Zion and Carter. At that time, those elementary school fans born in 10 and 20 years will say, "I'll just hang out, it's impossible!!!"

[–]Clippers moffattron9000 26 points 5 hours ago

The majority of Vince Carter's life will be in the NBA.

Clippers Fans: Carter will spend most of his life in the NBA.

[–]ProdigyMamba 23 points 5 hours ago

he tryna play wit lebron kids too lol

He also wants to play basketball with James 's son, hahahaha

[–]Nets biinroii01 769 points 8 hours ago

he better get an honorary All Star spot 4

Nets fan: The league is better for him to give him a place for honor All-Star .

[–]Mavs Doberman11 71 points 8 hours ago

That’s probably why he’s not retired. He wants some respect for his game.

Mavericks Fan: Maybe it’s because of this that he has not retired. He wants some respect.

[–]Raptors IanicRR 52 points 6 hours ago

Let Dirk and Wade go and VC can soak up all the limelight next season.

Raptors fans: Let Dirk and Wade retire, so that Carter can become the focus of everyone's attention next season.

[–]Lakers IllmaticGOAT 21 points 4 hours ago

Pretty crazy that Vince outlasted DWade.

Lakers Fan: Carter actually has a longer career than Wade, which is really crazy.

[–]76ers EMVPIID 32 points 7 hours ago

If both conferences get an honorary all star (like this year) who would the other be? We don't know where Vince is going to play next year so candidates are:

Tony Parker? Carmelo? (If he finds a team (actually it might be even better if Melo didn't even have a team and made the all-star game)) Pau Gasol? (Assuming he doesn't retire this year) Lebron?

76ers fan: If both divisions have an honorary All-Star (as in this year), who is the other besides Carter? We don’t know where Carter will play next season, so there are some candidates:

Parker ? Anthony ? (If he can find a team... In fact, if he doesn't find the next one and goes to the All-Star, that might be better) Paul Gasol ? (Suppose he will not retire after this season) James?

[–]Celtics awrf 16 points 5 hours ago

Dirk again, only because he never said he is actually retiring

Celtics fan: Then Dirk goes in again, just because he never said he really wants to retire.

[–]Celtics Spritely84 24 points 6 hours ago

Jamal Crawford? I know he hasn't got the same name recognition but being 6th man of the year 3 times and the type of game he plays it'd be nice to see him participating in an All-Star game.

Celtics Fan: Jamal What about Crawford ? I know that everyone's recognition of him is not as good as those of Dirk, but he won the sixth man of the year three times, and his style of playing in the All-Star should be very good.

[–][BOS] Jaylen Brown Ye_Biz 75 points 8 hours ago

Question is which team , he’s still a solid bench player that can give a decent amount. of scoring

Celtics fan: The question is where he will go next season, he is still a reliable bench player and can contribute considerable scoring data.

[–][MIN] Fred Hoiberg Infin1tySlay3r 96 points 8 hours ago

Probably still hwaks, All the kids look up to him and he gets meaningful mins. Depends on how soon they want to compete

Tienwolf fans: Maybe it's still the Hawks, the kids of the Hawks respect him very much, and he can also get good playing time. It depends on when the Eagle wants to do a big career.

[–]Thunder 2muchtomfuckery 13 points 7 hours ago

He isn’t chasing titles. He’s old school. So don’t be surprised if it’s with the Hawks again

Thunder fan: Carter did not deliberately pursue the title. His style is old-fashioned. So I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed with the Eagle.

[–][ATL] Tyler Dorsey __Kev 104 points 8 hours ago

Our GM has said before as long as Vince wants to come back next season he's going to resign him so yay vince back to hwaks

Hawks Fan: Our general manager has already said that as long as Carter is willing to stay in the team next season, the team will renew his contract with him, so yes, Carter will stay in the Hawks.

[–]YoloLucy 56 points 6 hours ago

I hope he ring challenges. Dude should get to enjoy what it feels like, he deserves it.

I hope he can pursue the championship. The old man should enjoy the feeling of winning, which is what he deserves.

[–]emiyagookejjada 60 points 6 hours ago

He will resign with the Hawks, so yes he will be with a contenter

He will renew his contract with the Hawks, so yes he will be with a contenter

He will be a championship contender.

[–]Hawks Kreykelly 18 points 8 hours ago

Yes!!! We will bring you the ring you deserve Vince!!! /s

Eagles Fan: Yes! ! ! ! We'll bring you that deserved champion ring, Carter! ! ! !

[–][DAL] Dirk Nowitzki Mysteriagant 162 points 8 hours ago

DIRK NEEDS TO DO THE SAME

Mavericks fan: Dirk must play like Carter for another season.

[–]Celtics Mrmojorisincg 13 points 6 hours ago

Love dirk... please no tho

Celtics fan: I love Dirk, but let it go.

[–]Hawks duhpolan 112 points 8 hours ago

Vince Carter is actually serviceable and can defend tho lol. He's shooting 40% from 3 compared to dirks 28%

Hawks fan: Carter can actually play now, and he still has defense, hahahaha. His three-point shooting percentage is 40%, while Dirk is 28%.

[–]Knicks monster_krak3n 99 points 7 hours ago

Talent? Nothing wrong with Dirk’s talent his body’s just given up lo

Knicks fan: Talent? Dirk's talent is fine, but his body has given up, hahahaha
