Indonesia Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said at a press conference that day that Indonesia found 15 severe cases of hepatitis in an unknown cause in the comprehensive investigation that began recently. He did not specify whether all the 15 cases were children and what treatment the patients had received.

Indonesian Ministry of Health reported on the 2nd that three children died of acute hepatitis last month. They lived in the capital Jakarta and have all received the hepatitis vaccine. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, severe diarrhea, fever, jaundice , etc.
WHO Officials said on the 3rd that 20 countries have reported at least 228 cases of acute hepatitis in children with suspected or confirmed unknown causes.
Some health experts believe that hepatitis of unknown cause may be related to infection with an adenovirus . This adenovirus is a common virus and may cause symptoms similar to flu or gastrointestinal diseases. Researchers are investigating whether the adenovirus has mutated. (Li Yannan)
