After staying in the magic city for a long time, I felt impetuous. I took 2 days to go to Zhoushan to watch a music festival, and just went to Putuo Mountain by the way. Unexpectedly, this trip will become one of the destinations visited many times.
To travel to Putuo Mountain Scenic Area, you must take a fast boat from Zhujiajian in Zhoushan; facts have proved that the more difficult to reach the place, the more beautiful the scenery; after going through many twists and turns, the first impression after arriving at the scenic area is really the Sea to Sky Buddha The four words "country". Against the backdrop of a number of sea islands, a giant Buddha can be seen at a glance, and a large forest exists quietly here, as if you have arrived in a Zen country.

When I came to Mount Putuo, I personally suggested that you try a ropeway. After all, Mount Putuo is surrounded by mountains and the sea. Only from high places can you see the complete coexistence of mountains, sea and ancient pagodas. The whole process is relatively smooth and slow, not exciting, but the scenery and views are good. You can clearly see the natural environment of Mount Putuo through the glass of the cableway.
The ancient trees in the Putuo Mountain Scenic Area are towering and have deep roots. This is a hackberry tree, the same as the name of my boyfriend. It lies so casually in the woods, and the landscape is very natural. Uncompromising Yan Sansan/Photo by

Even in the hot summer, when I see this scene on the hiking trail, it feels cool and refreshing. The towering trees as far as the eye can see are actually growing normally, but they are really dense and eye-catching. This unmodified landscape is the most worth cherishing.
Foding Mountain is the highest mountain in Putuo, with an altitude of 292 meters. It takes 40 minutes to walk from Foding Mountain to Fayu Zen Temple. And this route is only a small area of Putuo Mountain, which shows how big the scenic spot is.

Come to Putuo Mountain and see the temple architecture, which is quite good. The main attractions are three major temples: Puji Zen Temple, Fayu Zen Temple and Huiji Zen Temple, all with a history of more than a thousand years. It is a pity that it was damaged to varying degrees during the Cultural Revolution. What you see now is what it looks like after restoration.
Fayu Temple was founded in the eighth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. Because the springs and rocks here were secluded and the thatch was used as a nunnery at that time, it was named "Haichao Temple" with the meaning of "Fahai Chaoyin". In the 22nd year of Wanli, it was renamed "Haichao Temple". It was destroyed by war in the twenty-sixth year of Wanli. In the 28th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, Puji Temple and Fayu Temple received funds from the court and were built at the same time. Later, Zen Master Mingyi of Fayu Temple went to Fujian alone to raise funds. It lasted three years and used the money raised to build Yuantong Hall. , dedicated to the statue of Guanyin Buddha, and two years later, the Mahavira Hall was built to house the Bodhisattvas. In the thirty-eighth year of Kangxi's reign (1699), Chaoyan granted Jinxiu Temple another gift, repaired the main hall, and gave it the inscriptions "Tianhua Fayu" and "Fayu Temple", thus establishing its current name.

In the thirty-third year of Wanli, monks such as Rushou and Ruguang built additional temples. In the thirty-fourth year (1606), the imperial court granted the title of "Protecting the Country and Zhenhai Zen Temple". After that, the temple was destroyed after several wars. In the 26th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1687), Zen Master Bie'an became the abbot, and the temple was renovated and expanded again, and the Sutra Pavilion, Dongchan Hall, Sansheng Hall, Sansheng Hall, and Palace Hall were built successively. , Yinliao, etc., the temple grew into a large scale.
In the 19th year of Guangxu (1893), the abbot of Fayu Temple, monk Hua Wen, came to the capital to ask for Buddhist scriptures. Yin Guang followed Hua Wen down south to Fayu Temple as his assistant. After Yin Guang settled in Fayu Temple, he never left home. , studied Buddhist scriptures behind closed doors, and stayed there for thirty-seven years. In his later years, he called himself "the rice porridge monk who is often ashamed of himself" and promoted the Pure Land aboriginal works such as "Pure Land Judgment Theory". After his death, his disciples compiled four volumes of "Master Yinguang's Wenchao" and continued to rule the world. During the Guangxu period, he continued to build temples. Yu became a famous temple famous in Jiangnan.

The Nine Dragon Wall built in 1987. This wall is different from the pottery Nine Dragon Walls in the Forbidden City, Beihai and Datong. Instead, it is made of 60 pieces of 70 cm square bluestone. The carvings and inlays are exquisite and no gaps are exposed. It is like being carved from a single large stone slab.

Fayu Temple covers an area of 33,408 square meters and has 294 existing temples, which are arranged on a six-story platform based on the mountain. The entrance gate is upgraded in sequence, with the Tianwang Hall on the central axis, the Jade Buddha Hall at the back, the Bell and Drum Tower between the two halls, and the Guanyin Hall, the Royal Stele Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Sutra Storehouse, and the Abbot Hall.

For only 8 yuan, each person can enjoy four or five vegetarian dishes and soups at Mahayana Temple. Humans are very strange animals. Sometimes they are simple, but they feel extremely cherished. Occasionally I go to Putuo Mountain to listen to the chirping of birds and eat vegetarian food. Life becomes much simpler, and people actually feel much happier unconsciously.
