STARLUX Airlines, founded by former Taiwan EVA Air Chairman Zhang Guowei, implemented a pilot recruitment plan for the first time in June this year. The number of applicants exceeded 800. After half a year of rigorous review, 14 trainees recently participated. The pre-departure briefing was held and the contract was officially completed. He obtained the qualification of StarLux Airlines to train pilots and will go to the United States for one year of flight training in early March next year.
Starlux Airlines announced this news on December 4. StarLux Aviation’s pilot training program was launched in June this year and received more than 800 applicants in one month. The selection process was conducted from August to November. It was originally planned to admit 20 students, but after strict review, only 14 students passed all the way and passed the "preliminary interview", "Category A aviation personnel physical examination", and "pilot potential test". ”, “group interactive interview” and “individual professional interview”, and officially signed a contract to become a training pilot for StarLux Airlines in early December.
StarAir said, The first batch of trained pilots is scheduled to depart for Phoenix, USA, in March next year to undergo one year of flight training to obtain a commercial flight license (CPL). The course includes practical operations of aircraft and instruments, professional subjects such as aviation French , meteorology and navigation, etc. After returning to Taiwan, they will complete another six months of aircraft type conversion training. After completing the training and passing the route test, they can officially sign up to become the first officer of StarLux Airlines.
In addition, StarLux Airline’s second-tier training pilot screening and examination operations will begin in mid-January 2019. It is expected that 20 outstanding candidates will be selected and sent to the pilots in September of the same year. When trainees go to the United States for training, the company will pay for their studies, food, accommodation, and insurance expenses during their training abroad. All Taiwanese nationals, college graduates or above (fresh graduates or draftees are also acceptable), and possessing a qualified English proficiency certificate. StarLux Airlines plans to officially launch flights in early 2020, using Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport as its hub, initially flying to Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, and gradually adding transoceanic routes to and from North America.
Starlux Airlines has currently ordered 10 French Airbus new generation aircraft A321neo, scheduled for 2019 Deliveries began in October, and 5 A350-900s and 12 A350-1000s will be introduced at the end of 2021. Among them, A321neo and A350-1000 are the latest models introduced for the first time in Taiwan. StarLux Airlines expects to have a fleet of 27 aircraft by the end of 2024; by the end of 2030, the overall fleet will increase to 50 aircraft.
