After completing the visit to Canon headquarters and Utsunomiya factory, our group set foot on the land of Kyushu .

Kyushu is the third largest island among the four major islands in Japan. It is located in the southwest tip of Japan. In the old days, it was divided into nine vassals, so it was named Kyushu. Today, there are 8 prefectures in Kyushu, including the well-known Kumamoto Prefecture and Okinawa Prefecture .

The main equipment I carried for this outdoor shooting was Canon’s new full-frame micro EOS R. I also brought three lenses, namely RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM, RF50mm F1.2 L USM, and EF. -EF 50mm f/1.8 STM with EOS R mount adapter. The RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM has very good focal length coverage and good applicability; the large aperture of the RF50mm F1.2 L USM can bring good blur effects and low-light shooting capabilities; and the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, Even though a SLR lens requires an adapter ring, it is still very light and easy to carry when shooting.

After leaving Tokyo, we actually only stayed in Kyushu for 3 days and 2 nights. These 2 nights were stationed in Yufuin, Oita Prefecture. Yufuin is a famous hot spring resort in Japan. If you haven’t been to Yufuin Hot Spring or Yufuin Hot Spring, you should be famous. I had some doubts about whether it was Yufuin or Yufuin before I went there, but in fact, the two can be regarded as one in a sense. The current Yufuin was formed by the merger of Yufuin and Yuping Village in the 30th year of Showa. Although many local place names or station names still retain the original title of Yufuin.

The first stop when we arrived in Kyushu was Lake Kinrin in the Yufuin area. We had lunch at the foot of Mount Yufu at noon. During the rest time after the meal, I strolled along the downhill path. Kyushu is not like Tokyo. , the population density here is relatively low, and it seems particularly peaceful when walking through the country roads. The image of the next two days is basically the same, locking the tone of Kyushu, leisurely and quiet.

We set off again and went directly to Jinlin Lake. The reason why Jinlin Lake is called Jinlin Lake is because there are carps and golden koi in the lake. Jinlin Lake does not mean that there is only one lake here. There are small streets where you can stroll, eat and buy. I really want to say that it is very Japanese, but isn’t this Japan? Haha.

Compared with the first day when we came from Tokyo, we were a little tired. On the second day, we were full of energy and embarked on the journey to Kumamoto Prefecture. But what? Not to visit Kumamoto Prefectural Sales Director and Happiness Minister Kumamoto, but to Mount Aso , a famous active volcano.

Kumamoto Prefecture is adjacent to Oita Prefecture, and the Aso area of ​​​​Kumamoto is very close to Oita. It only takes us more than an hour to drive. Looking from the Aso Daikan Peak in Aso National Park, you can see Mount Aso Nakadake in the distance and the Aso Valley surrounded by mountains. Aso Valley is actually the core area of ​​the entire Aso City, Aso Station and The Aso City Hall is located in the valley.

The crater of Mount Aso is located in Mount Aso Nakadake. From Daikan Peak, go south and go deeper to Kussenri and Karakodake. In fact, you are very close to the crater. You can see billowing white smoke coming from the crater. To be honest, it was my first time to see an active volcano up close. I really wanted to go to the crater to explore it. However, considering the safety of the whole group, there was no plan to visit the crater on this trip (I don’t know if There are such tourist projects). After all, there was an eruption here two years ago. At that time, the volcanic ash cloud reached a height of 11,000 meters and spread to the surrounding area of ​​250 kilometers, which was scary.

From noon to evening, we went to several places. First, we had a meal at Takamori Tianraku. Then we went to the Shirakawa Water Source in Minamiaso Village. At the Shirakawa Water Source, there happened to be Japanese people praying at the shrine, and we observed it carefully. In fact, the steps are not complicated; on the way back to Oita, we also passed the Kokonoeyu Suspension Bridge, but it was already past the time to board the bridge.

About the "Takamori Tenraku Preservation Association", "Tenaku" is a local Japanese cuisine, which was eaten by farmers in the fields during barbecue in ancient times; and the "Preservation Association" refers to the protection of a certain traditional culture, which can be seen in Japan There are various preservation associations; as for "Takamori", it is the Tenraku Preservation Association in the Takamori area.

Our trip to Kyushu is coming to an end. We have booked a flight back home from Fukuoka Airport in the afternoon. Kumamoto is adjacent to the southwest of Oita, and Fukuoka is adjacent to the northwest of Oita. In fact, they are both quite close. In the morning, we went to the last stop of our trip to Japan, Hita Mameda Town.

Mameda Town is a famous scenic spot in Kyushu. It is known as Little Kyoto. There are many small shops of various colors in Mameda Town Shopping Street. Although we arrived relatively early, tourists also arrived one after another. Compared to shopping streets, I actually prefer walking in Japanese alleys to see the local customs. The small alleys around the shopping street obviously show a different scene of Mameda Town, which is very quiet.

Although this trip to Kyushu is very short, there are still many fascinating places we want to visit, but even though it only lasts for 2 and a half days, we still took a lot of photos with the Canon EOS R micro camera in our hands to leave this beautiful period behind. memories.

Next, let’s talk about the camera. EOS R is Canon’s new full-frame mirrorless camera . Canon named it full-frame professional mirrorless camera, which means professional mirrorless camera. In terms of specifications, the EOS R is very similar to Canon's best-selling professional SLR EOS 5D Mark IV, so it can bear the title of professional micro.

Of course, as a later-developed EOS R, it is actually improved compared to the 5D4. For example, the processor has come to the latest DIGIC 8, which is two generations ahead of the 5D4. I have compared the differences between DIGIC 8 and 7 on other Canon models before, and found that in addition to the improvement in performance indicators (the EOS R’s continuous shooting speed is 8 frames/second), in terms of imaging color, white balance, metering, and edge deformation Control and other aspects are even better.

In addition to the processor, the CMOS sensor (another core) is actually more important. The CMOS sensor of the EOS R seems to be similar to that of the 5D4. In fact, it is learned from Canon that it has been completely redeveloped, so in terms of overall image quality, it is currently No. 1 among Canon manufacturers.

The use of EOS R for this outdoor shooting was actually the first time I used it after being "touched" at the press conference. In terms of control, EOS R has brought us many differences, and these differences are for me, an old Canon user. Although it is not yet plug and play, Canon's consistent style of excellent control design has not been lost, and you can get started quickly after a simple exploration.

Lens control ring, this is a new design provided by Canon for RF lenses. The function of this ring can be customized in the EOS R camera. I personally prefer to set the ISO on the lens control ring, so that it can be used with the double wave wheel. Quickly adjust the three exposure elements of aperture, shutter and sensitivity, which is very friendly and convenient for M-mode users like me.

It is necessary to say something about the double pulsator. The original rear pulsator on the back of the machine has been adjusted to the right rear of the top of the machine. Although it is also controlled by the thumb, old users need to get used to it. However, the new position is actually more in line with the consistent design of mirrorless cameras.A mode button is placed in this pulsator to switch shooting modes in conjunction with the rear pulsator. This means that there is no independent mode dial, and it has been streamlined and redesigned to a certain extent.

A new multi-function control bar has been added to the back of the camera, with three operations: left touch, right touch, and swipe, which means that three different functions can be set. Because the EOS R does not have a joystick, it is a faster option to set the multi-function control bar to focus mode switching and switch focus points through screen touch. As for why there is no joystick to use such a combination to switch focus points, this is also related to the fact that the EOS R has 5655 optional autofocus points (this is also much improved than the 5D4, and the coverage rate has reached 88%x100%) ), due to the richness of the focus points, it seems very convenient to switch through the joystick, but actually the efficiency will decrease on the EOS R. The finger swipe touch can use the fastest and most accurate way to pinpoint the focus we want to select.

In addition to these two main control differences, the EOS R is still a familiar Canon camera, so we can still use this camera in the familiar way to help us shoot.

Let’s talk about the lens, RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM. Users who have used the SLR version of EF 24-105mm F4 L IS II USM must be familiar with it. It has a very easy-to-use focal length, constant aperture, and no worries about hanging up. The RF mount version has an extra UD lens compared to the EF mount version, so the actual imaging will be better.

RF50mm F1.2 L USM, this is the lens that everyone is thinking about. Since the number of outdoor photos this time is limited, everyone is vying to use them. There is absolutely nothing to say after using it. The sharpness and smoothness presented by the wide-open aperture make us almost reluctant to replace it after using it. This is more than one and a half points better than the old 1.2L with EF mount. The RF lens is definitely the priority. Consider buying one.

Let’s talk about ASC coating here. This is Canon’s latest coating technology to prevent light reflection inside the lens. It is used in both RF lenses for this outdoor shooting. It uses a mixed coating technology of silica and air, which can effectively suppress ghosting and glare caused by light reflection. It is similar to the SWC sub-wavelength coating we learned when we visited the Utsunomiya factory, but according to the official description, it is almost SWC has good reflection suppression capabilities in the full range from normal incidence to larger incident angles, while ASC coating has strong reflection suppression capabilities at nearly vertical incidence, which means that the latest ASC coating will have a better effect under large backlighting. more prominent.

Finally, let me talk about the EF 50mm F1.8 STM " small spittoon " lens that I personally like very much. It is very cost-effective and is also very light and compact. It can be connected to the EOS R full-frame professional micro lens through the EF-EOS R mount adapter. It further highlights the portability of the combination of the two. Although the "small spittoon" is not an excellent lens, it is not bad at all. At least in my opinion, it is a good street sweeping combination. It is not burdensome and easy to shoot, which is also very important for traveling.

Of course, the role of the EF-EOS R mount adapter is not limited to this, but to adapt various EF mount SLR lenses. When it comes to EOS R just starting out, the lens group is definitely not rich, but with the blessing of a large, complete and excellent EF lens group, EOS R still has the flavor of the old world when it first arrived, and for Canon SLR old users Say, this is obviously more important.
