Liang Xinmin, the first county magistrate of Kinmen County of the Communist Party of China

​In May 1955, the Fujian Provincial People's Government officially announced the establishment of the Kinmen County People's Government, but in fact it was empty-handed because the then county magistrate Liang Xinmin also served as the deputy county magistrate of Nan'an County. At 6:30 pm on August 23, 1958, the artillery of the Chinese People's Liberation Army began to violently bombard Kinmen. Within two hours, more than 40,000 rounds of bombs were dropped, and the number of bombs dropped reached more than 57,000 at the end of the day.
