Commanding at the forefront is the 82nd Division of the 28th Army, Division Commander Zhong Xianwen. Unfortunately, no division-level generals landed on the island. Only the three regiments in the early stage actually landed on the island, and later some reinforcements were added, led by another regiment commander.

In this way, the top commanders who actually landed in Kinmen were the four regiment leaders. They are on the same level, so an important lesson from the defeat in the Battle of Kinmen is that the troops landing on the island fought independently and lacked a unified command. Xing Yongsheng participated in the Jinan Campaign and experienced hundreds of battles in his life, all the way to Kinmen Island.

Xing Yongsheng was a fierce general who crossed the sea and fought with the tragic spirit of dying generously. Before leaving, he called his teacher Zhong Xianwen and said, Goodbye, we may never see each other again! After the successful landing, Xing Changsheng was wounded in battle, captured and sent to the hospital for treatment. Because of the traitor's informant, Xing Changsheng's identity was exposed and he was brutally killed. He was only 35 years old.

Then there was Liu Tianxiang, the commander of the 251 regiment. He was from Wudi, Shandong. He joined the Eighth Route Army before the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War. By the time of the Liberation War, he had already served as the regiment commander. After the successful landing, Liu Tianxiang reported that all their ships were blown up by the Kuomintang, and all the wounded waiting to return were sacrificed.

After discovering the problem, the 28th Army quickly ordered Liu Tianxiang to unified command the island landing operations. However, it was too late. Liu Tianxiang led his troops in a bloody battle for three days and three nights, and was finally captured. Some said he died on a hunger strike, while others said he was brutally killed. He was only 30 years old at the time.

Next is Xu Bo, the leader of the 253rd Regiment. He is from Cixi, Zhejiang. He joined the New Fourth Army after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War and became the leader in the late period of the Liberation War. Xu Bo is relatively legendary. After landing, facing the siege of the Kuomintang army, his troops decided to break out and go up the mountain to fight guerrillas. There is also the last leader, named Sun Yunxiu. Sun Yunxiu is the most tragic. He could have survived. The three regiments that landed were in trouble. Some people in the 28th Army suggested sending reinforcements, while others believed that there were no ships and the reinforcements were too small to help.

However, in the end, a few ships were collected and four companies of troops were dispatched. This was of course a drop in the bucket, led by Sun Yunxiu, the commander of the 246th Regiment. Sun Yunxiu was from Luoyang, Henan. He was ill at the time and had a severe cough, so he could not shirk it.

In times of crisis, heroes emerge. At this critical moment, Sun Yunxiu stepped forward. He took off his pen and watch and handed them to a battalion commander in the military department. This is all his personal property. Sun Yunxiu said, my hometown is in Luoyang .
