In Chinese cultural imagery, "tiger" symbolizes strength and courage, and is an auspicious animal that can ward off evil and avoid evil. The famous painting by French painter Henry Thoreau, collected in , the British National Gallery, , depicts a tiger full of tension and ready to attack in the tropical jungle. Paper-cut black panthers, rendered in an elegant and powerful slow-motion gesture, can be seen on skirts and dresses this season, while Chinese-style animal prints, spots and stripes also form a design highlight this season.

Drawn by Ms. Vivienne herself - French painter Henri Matisse's beautiful female eye pattern and her own eye pattern, as well as the devil's eye amulet pattern with protective imagery, also appear in this season's design.

Part of this season's creative inspiration is also drawn from Dutch painter Peter Bruegel's 1559 painting - "The Fight Between Carnival and Lent" (The Fight Between Carnival and Lent). This painting, now in the collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, was created during the Little Ice Age (around the time of Henry VIII) and vividly depicts people moving on the frozen Thames. This surreal painting is an accurate representation of that historical period.
