Today's Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party authorities are more "reliant on foreigners" in cross-strait relations than the Taiwan authorities more than 20 years ago. The young generation on the island who grew up under the "de-Sinicization" education have also grown up and even become The backbone of Taiwanese society.
In the social atmosphere where the Democratic Progressive Party authorities are promoting "hatred of China" and "hatred of China", how many Taiwanese people are able to put aside their green glasses and see clearly the real mainland? From the DPP politicians to the green media and Internet warriors, they spare no effort to provoke multi-level confrontation and conflict between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and desperately restrict the exchanges and integration of all social strata on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. In this atmosphere, some mainland people jokingly said, "We treat Taiwan compatriots as compatriots, but Taiwan compatriots treat us as wallets."
In order to fight against the mainland, the DPP authorities have ignored cross-strait peace and blindly "Counting on foreign countries' self-respect", they continue to increase their military budget, spend a large amount of Taiwanese society's hard-earned money to purchase outdated weapons from the United States, and create a false atmosphere on the island of "Taiwan and the United States are allies", making the Taiwanese people believe that in the event of a conflict across the Taiwan Strait, the United States We will definitely come to help Taiwan.
Dongsen News Cloud Poll shows that as many as 55.7% of the Taiwanese people support "the stationing of U.S. troops in Taiwan to assist in the defense of Taiwan", and as many as 60.4% of the Taiwanese people support the authorities in promoting "the restoration of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and the United States" as soon as possible. If such a questionnaire about unrequited love was placed in the United States, the public's views would be 180 degrees opposite. According to polls by many American think tanks, the American people do not support the United States sending troops to help defend Taiwan at all. In fact, such contradictory statements are not surprising at all. From an objective point of view, the training quality of the Taiwan military has gradually disintegrated since the introduction of the recruitment system around 2000.
Since the 21st century, Taiwan's military has been shrinking from 500,000 in the 1990s to 200,000 today. Taiwan has only about 10,000 troops left in total on the outer islands of Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu . Nowadays, Taiwan adopts the policy of "mainly recruitment system, supplemented by compulsory service", which has caused the Taiwan military's combat effectiveness to drop rapidly to the point where it has no combat effectiveness at all. In addition, in order to quickly absorb the compulsory service of men who have not served, Taiwan relaxed the policy in 2012, and all those who have applied for substitute service can serve as substitute service.
