According to Nikkei Asia, after the completion of four new facilities in the Tainan City Industrial Park as part of TSMC's production center, the company is starting construction of four more factories. Each construction project will reportedly cost TSMC approximately $10 billion and form part of a $120 billion investment plan.

All four new projects are said to be production lines for making 3nm chips. Products that may be produced in these factories in the future can include Apple SoCs, including Apple Silicon and A-series chips.

TSMC announced on Friday that it intends to start mass production of 2nm chips by 2025.

These four facilities are just part of the company's larger plan to build more facilities across the island. At least 20 factories are under construction or have recently been completed, and these projects can bring a total of more than 2 million square meters of construction area.

Taiwan is not the only region where TSMC is building factories, ArizonaA US$12 billion factory project is expected to be completed in March 2023. TSMC is also reportedly in talks with Singapore's Economic Development Board for a new factory.
