At 8 pm Eastern Time in Canada on January 30, the 2022 "China Story China Year" jointly produced by the Canadian Media Center of the People's Daily Overseas Network, the Canadian Chinese Media Journalists Association, Canadian Video Media, and China Yinchuan TV 》The Canadian Overseas Chinese Spring Festival Gala was broadcast simultaneously on three online platforms: Youtube, bilibili, and Kankan Live. More than 10,000 people watched online at the same time. The party was a complete success!
This year’s party adopts a cloud party format that echoes both China and foreign countries, transcending the barriers of time, space and the epidemic, and integrating Chinese and Western special programs. The party was produced by the Canadian Performing Arts Alliance and title sponsored by China Construction Bank Toronto Branch.
The party kicked off with the opening song and dance "Pomegranate Seeds, One Heart and One Family", which showed the beautiful scene of fifty-six ethnic groups holding hands and connecting hearts. The song and dance "Songs in Hometown" brought by Ningxia Performing Arts Group Song and Dance Theater covers Miao , Dong , Buyi , Shui , Tujia , Yi , Gelao and other ethnic characteristics, allowing the world to see the fine art of ethnic minority dances. The children's dance "Drunk Spring Breeze" recorded in front of Toronto City Hall Square showed the spread and inheritance of Chinese culture in Canada. In addition, the dance performance "Purple Dream" and the song and dance performance "A Glass of Fine Wine" presented by the Ningxia Performing Arts Group Song and Dance Theater showed off the wine's golden sign of "Helan MountainEastern Foot".
This year, many overseas tourists are unable to return to their country to reunite with their families. The party specially arranged a female trio's "Scarborough Fair", the original song "Not Going Home This Year" by the young musician He Zixiao, and the Chinese singer Wulantu. Programs such as "I Feel Homesick When I Hear the Flowers" and "Green Leeks", sung by Ningxia folk songs minor by Ya and Salina , express the homesickness of overseas Chinese. In addition to showing Chinese folk art, the
party also performed new singing methods of European and American art. Hindsight Quartet from Canada presented the a cappella "Desperado". Its novel and unique arrangement and harmony deeply attracted the audience's attention. The folk music ensemble "Dream Back to the Tang Dynasty" performed by the Canadian Oriental Impression Chinese Music Center allowed everyone to experience the splendid culture of the Tang Dynasty. The song and dance program "Rise up" brought by Canadian Spark Entertainment showed the trendy youthful vitality. Erhu master Gao Shaoqing collaborated with the Canadian youth music group Crystal String Quartet to perform the original work "Mengfeng", which fully demonstrated the harmonious artistic conception of the blend of Chinese and Western music. The flash mob program brought by the Canadian International Dance Association "Stronger Than Yesterday" shows the vitality of overseas teenagers through dance.
In addition to singing and dancing performances, the party also had a wonderful magic show. "Blooming Flowers" allowed the audience to feel the charm of close-up magic. The acrobatic program "Power" selected by Haikou TV station presents a thrilling artistic experience to the audience.
Finally, the party came to an end with "My China" sung by female singer Chen Sisi . It is reported that the "Chinese Story Chinese Year" Spring Festival Gala for overseas Chinese in Canada has been successfully held for three times. Since 2019, it has been included in the "Happy Spring Festival" series of activities of the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto. It has attracted widespread attention from Chinese people, international students, and foreign friends who love Chinese culture. Over the years, the party has disseminated and promoted traditional Chinese culture through various forms of theatrical performances.
