Taiwan's Bureau of Standards and Inspection of the Ministry of Economic Affairs issued an announcement on "Relevant Inspection Regulations for Inspection of Wireless Charger Products" on January 10, 2019, stating that starting from January 1, 2020, Taiwan will include wireless charger products as BSMI products. Before this, wireless charger products only needed to apply for NCC certification to enter Taiwan. After the new regulations are implemented, not only NCC certification but also BSMI certification is required before such products can enter the Taiwan market.
It is reported that on May 27, 2019, Taiwan’s Bureau of Standards and Inspection (BSMI) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs issued an announcement stipulating mandatory product inspection rules for wireless chargers. Taiwan BSMI certification mark
1. What is BSMI certification
BSMI is the abbreviation of the English "Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection" of the Bureau of Standards and Inspection of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan. The Bureau of Standards and Inspection (BSMI), under the leadership of the government's economic department, formulates product inspection specifications for electronic and electrical products entering the Taiwan market. Products must comply with safety, EMC testing and related testing before they can be authorized to use the BSMI mark.
BSMI certification is mandatory. According to the announcement of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, starting from July 1, 2005, products entering Taiwan will be subject to supervision in two aspects: electromagnetic compatibility and safety regulations .
2. Implementation points
- Application time: You can apply now. The validity period on the certificate will be written from January 1, 2020.
- Certificate validity period: three years.
- Products with operating frequencies less than 30MHz should also comply with CNS13803 (2003) magnetic field radiation regulations.

3. BSMI application methods
Currently there are three application methods:
1) Type approval includes two types:
Type approval (EMC+Safety) and EMC type approval (replacing the original EMC application)
2) Certification registration
Applicable standards: EMI + safety regulations. The documents that need to be provided include (product type approval application, company or factory license, test report, technical documents for electromagnetic compatibility: photos, labels, parts with electromagnetic interference , block diagrams and user manuals, and safety regulations technical documentation, declaration of conformity).
3) Applicable products for the Declaration of Conformity
: 19 types of information technology equipment components. Applicable standards: CNS13438 (ONLY EMC). The documents that need to be provided are (declaration of conformity, test reports, technical documents: photos, labels, parts with electromagnetic interference, block diagrams and user manuals).
