Live Bar, February 9th Serie A Sampdoria club officially announced that it has signed a contract with 35-year-old free agent Giovinco until the end of the season. Giovinco returns to Serie A after eight years.
Sebastian Giovinco is a 35-year-old Italian forward. He is nicknamed the "Atomic Ant" for his height of 164cm. Giovinco comes from the Juventus youth training and has played for Juventus, Empoli, Parma, Toronto FC, and Riyadh Crescent.
Giovinco played a total of 190 times in Serie A, scoring 40 goals and providing 38 assists. With Juventus, he won 3 Serie A championships, 1 Italian Cup championship, and 2 Italian Super Cup championships.
In January 2015, the 28-year-old Giovinco switched from Juventus to Major League Baseball Toronto FC. He played 142 times in four years, scored 83 goals and had 51 assists, and was known as the "North American Football King".
In January 2019, Giovinco joined the Saudi giant Riyadh Crescent and contributed 16 goals and 19 assists in 83 appearances. He terminated his contract with Riyadh Crescent on August 15, 2021. Six months after becoming a free agent, he officially joined Sampdoria today.
In Serie A this season, Sampdoria currently has 23 points with 6 wins, 5 draws and 13 losses, temporarily ranking 16th, only 5 points above the relegation zone.
