Tyrannosaurus rex, referred to as Tyrannosaurus rex, is the most familiar dinosaur, commonly known as Tyrannosaurus rex . In the eyes of sci-fi fans,
Tyrannosaurus Rex can be said to be a household name and notorious. They are known for their huge size, fierceness and brutality.
However, in the age of dinosaurs, carnivorous dinosaurs were far more than just a Tyrannosaurus rex. What we are going to talk about today is another kind of prehistoric dinosaur killer. Speaking of which, they are still distantly related to Tyrannosaurus rex, which is Tarbosaurus rex.
Hearing this name, some people will understand that this is a dinosaur similar to Tyrannosaurus rex. Some people may even think that the word "special" may mean that the Tyrannosaurus rex is stronger than the Tyrannosaurus rex.
In fact, Tarbosaurus is indeed similar to Tyrannosaurus rex. They are distant relatives, and they are all creatures of the superfamily Tyrannosaurus. We know that the classification of organisms from high to low is the phylum, order, family, genus and species, among them, between orders and families, there are also small classifications of suborders and superfamilies. And under the Tyrannosaurus superfamily, there are special Tyrannosaurids and Tyrannosaurids and other dinosaurs.
Originally, it was believed that Tarbosaurus was a type of Tyrannosaurus rex. However, more and more studies have found that their body structures are relatively different, and their "relative relationship" may be far away. Similar body shapes may also be due to parallel evolution caused by the environment, rather than the result of branched evolution. Some people even think that some Tyrannosaurus evolved into Tyrannosaurus after they crossed the Bering Strait.
Tyrannosaurus lived about 74 million years ago to 70 million years ago, and was mainly distributed in my country and Mongolia. Their official name is Tarbosaurus, and the special word is transliterated, which does not mean that it is stronger than Tyrannosaurus. In fact, they were actually smaller than Tyrannosaurus rex.
The only confirmed species of Tarbosaurus is called Warrior Tarbosaurus, which is about 9-12 meters in length. There is also an indeterminate species-Aishi Tyrannosaurus is even smaller, about 7-8 meters.
Still, that doesn't mean Tarbosaurus wasn't ferocious. In fact, their viciousness is not inferior to their "relatives" at all.
Research has shown that the skull (including the jaw) of Tarbosaurus was harder than that of Tyrannosaurus, making it easier to hunt and kill the creatures at that time. At the same time, although their weight is only 7.5 tons at most, during the time it lived, there were basically no dinosaurs as huge as Seismosaurus on the earth. Therefore, at the end of the Cretaceous , the Tyrannosaurus can almost be said to be invincible all over the world.
The research on the brain of Tarbosaurus shows that although the eyes of Tarbosaurus can establish a three-dimensional visual effect, the area of the brain that processes visual effects does not seem to be large, which means that they are likely to be like Tyrannosaurus. Like dragons, it doesn't rely very much on vision. Correspondingly, their sense of smell and hearing are more developed, which are crucial for their life and hunting.
Research shows that Tarbosaurus was not a solitary creature, and they probably lived peacefully in the same niche with many other creatures and even other carnivores. This is not surprising, after all, the "dragon" is more powerful, and a prosperous environment allows it to eat more food.
At present, paleontologists have not yet concluded how to classify Tarbosaurus. Whether they are a type of tyrannosaurus, or a distant relative of tyrannosaurus, or a distant relative of tyrannosaurus, is still uncertain. There are relatively few Tarbosaurus fossils discovered by humans, and the information obtained is limited. All these questions need more archaeological excavations before they have a chance to be answered.
