Zhu Jun, vice chairman of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, said in his speech at the meeting that after three years of epidemics, my country's traditional home appliance market has entered the stock stage, putting many home appliance categories under pressure. However, quality home appliances represented by smart toilets, clothes dryers , and cleaning appliances have maintained good growth momentum. In the first three quarters of 2022, the online retail sales and retail volume of smart toilets achieved year-on-year growth of 23.9% and 18.4% respectively, making them unique in the overall home appliance market.
However, while the industry situation is improving, some challenging issues are also emerging. For example, how to leverage the existing market and how to make more users experience and like smart toilet products require everyone's collective efforts. He mentioned that with the improvement of the "housing business" of the young group, everyone hopes to better realize the living value such as the quality and happiness of the house, which has further promoted the popularity of "happiness tools" such as smart toilets, but we also need to allow such products to have more channels for communication. The report pointed out that smart toilets are accelerating into Chinese households. At present, the market penetration rate of smart toilets in my country has reached about 5%. For the whole year of 2022, my country's smart toilets are expected to achieve online sales of 6.4 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 227%. In the 618 and Double 11 campaigns on Tmall and JD.com, smart toilet sales have achieved unparalleled success, and the growth rate is much better than other home appliance categories. Rong Yu, general manager of the Building Materials Business Department of the Home Appliances and Home Furnishing Business Group of JD.com Retail Group, shared JD.com’s smart home strategy. He mentioned that as the core product of the smart bathroom space, the compound growth rate of the sales volume of smart toilets on the JD platform in the past three years has been approximately 110%, and the compound growth rate of transaction volume has reached 180%.
