Fig is also called " Tianxian Fruit ". The fruits are delicious and nutritious, and are suitable for consumption between men, women, young and old. As a rare fruit, figs are sold at a relatively high price on the market, so many people like to pot fig tree in the courtyard or on the balcony. They can not only eat delicious fruits, but also beautify the environment.
The origin of figs is in Mediterranean Mediterranean , Türkiye , Afghanistan and other regions. Has been introduced to my country in the Tang Dynasty . Figs are typical southern fruit trees, which are not very cold-resistant and are prone to frostbite. In order to make figs safely winter, we can do it from the following 4 points:
6 1. Apply winter fertilizer in the ground plant
As the temperature continues to drop in winter, the leaves of the figs will also turn yellow and fall off. If it is a fig planted on the ground, after the fruit tree falls and before the land is frozen, we need to bury some winter fertilizer in the soil of the fruit tree. Decomposed organic fertilizers are usually used, such as decomposed cattle and sheep manure, fruit peel fertilizer, bean cake fertilizer , etc. The fertilizer buried in winter will slowly dissolve in the soil, providing sufficient nutrients for the fruit trees in spring, and will germinate and grow branches and leaves particularly quickly in spring. When applying fertilization, be careful not to bury it too close to the root system, at least be more than 15 cm away from the main trunk of the fig.
No fertilizer in potted plants
If it is a potted fig tree, there is no need to fertilize in winter. The pot space for potted plants is limited, and fertilization will cause the soil fertilizer concentration to be too high, which will easily burn the root system.

Figs are southern fruit trees, with low cold resistance and the minimum ability to withstand low temperatures of minus 15 degrees Celsius. Most in the southern region and a small number of in the northern region can be used for winter in open air, but the minimum temperature in winter in some northern regions is less than 15 degrees, so it can only be planted in pots, and it must be moved indoors or balcony for maintenance in winter. Because the root system of potted figs is shallow, it is best to have a temperature of no less than minus 10 degrees below 000 degrees, otherwise the root system may be frostbite.
Open-pierce figs keep warm
(Fig tree painted white in the ground)
Open-pierce figs are recommended to whiten their branches after the leaves fall in winter. The so-called whitening means applying quicklime water to the trunk of the fig. It not only serves to keep warm, but also kills pests in the branches. The fruit trees will not easily get sick the next year.
(Fig tree with woven bags tied in the courtyard)
If the local wind is relatively strong in winter, it is easy to drain the water from the fig branches, causing the branches to die and affect the growth of the second year. We can also prepare some woven bags or straws, and tie the woven bags to the branches with ropes, which can achieve a good thermal insulation and moisturizing effect.

Farm figs After applying winter fertilizer, you need to water frozen water once. On the one hand, it can allow fertilizer to penetrate underground, and on the other hand, it can absorb more water in the roots of figs. The long winter will consume a lot of water in its body. Watering frozen water should be done at a temperature above 0 degrees, just water it once. Water the land around the figs thoroughly with water.
Potted figs watering
Potted fig trees placed indoors or on the balcony generally will not be very low. There is no need to water frozen water, just keep the soil slightly dry. After seeing the soil surface white and dry, you can water it.
After the fig trees planted in winter fall off their leaves and before the potted fig trees are moved indoors, they all need to be pruned.Whether it is ground or potted plants, the pruning method is the same. Just cut off the too long branches, cut off all the dry branches, diseased branches, thin and weak branches, too dense branches, and cross branches, leaving only strong branches and keep the plant loose and neat. Then, the ground-planted fruit trees are kept warm according to the method described above, and the potted figs can be moved indoors for maintenance.
