Hello everyone, I am Elder Tang. Recently, a meat friend asked: closed balcony to raise succulent How to ventilate in winter?
Super succulents that meat friends have collected indoors
In the past few days, a cold wave has swept from north to south. Wherever they pass, they either have heavy snow or are cold. The succulents that everyone had placed outside happily and were raised happily, but now they can only be taken back to indoor maintenance. If the succulent's cold resistance is overestimated, it will be fine if the minimum temperature of in the southern region is less than zero (most of the normally maintained succulents can withstand low temperatures of around minus 2-3℃ while keeping the soil in the pot dry), but the in the northern region of is miserable, and the succulent will directly turn into an ice sculpture overnight (as shown in the figure below).

How to ventilate succulent on a closed balcony in winter?
Of course, the succulents are retracted and placed indoors or in closed balconies. There is no need to worry about frostbite, but we have to face other problems, such as insufficient lighting and poor ventilation. Fortunately, as long as we are willing to invest, we can solve the problem of succulent lack of light (succulent filling light is not expensive, and the electricity bill is relatively expensive), and we can also solve the problem of poor ventilation according to the following points.

First of all, we don’t have to worry too much about ventilation in winter. After all, bacteria that are prone to succulents in low temperatures are not active, and even if the doors and windows are closed in a short time, our succulents will not have any problems. But we should pay special attention to one thing, that is, the soil in the pot should not be too wet, otherwise the leaves will fall off, leaves will melt water, and root rot and rot over time.

The second is to place the succulent indoors or on the enclosed balcony. We can open the windows for ventilation every 3-5 days. The window does not take too long, just one hour or two hours. We should also pay attention to two points in this place: First, the window opening time must be chosen at noon on a sunny day, and the outdoor temperature should not be lower than 0℃. The second is to move the succulents of the window away and do not let them face the air outlet directly, otherwise cold air from the outdoors will easily cause frostbite.

In addition, if the outdoor temperature is too low, and even the temperature during the day is below minus 5℃, then we should not open the window to ventilate, but find a small fan to shake and blow. As long as the indoor air can circulate, our succulents will not be prone to problems.

How to maintain closed balcony and indoor succulents in winter?
Because my coordinates are in , the southwest region of , so in winter, the succulents are basically grown in exposed, and at most they are covered with rain. I had prepared a small house to winter for succulents before, but I had never used it seriously for more than 8 years of raising meat, and now it has completely become a storage room. Although I don’t need to be stored indoors in winter, my Fairy Cup is kept in a small shed for a long time, and is basically close to the closed balcony or indoor maintenance environment, so I still have maintenance experience.
Winter succulents can be nourished with exterior skin. It is a kind of happiness.
. In the case of insufficient light and poor ventilation, in fact, only two points are needed to be paid attention to in the maintenance of succulents in winter. First, prevent insects. Before entering the room, we can sprinkle some internal suction insecticides (the small purple medicine I used) on the succulents, and then water them thoroughly to allow them to absorb, so that we will not be afraid of succulents growing worms throughout the winter.

The second is watering. Without heating indoors, it is enough to water the succulents once a month. If there is heating indoors, watering can keep the watering frequency of dry and as usual (it is recommended to control water if you do not use fill light, otherwise the succulent will become severely prolonged).
