Recently, earthquakes have occurred frequently, especially in Taiwan, and have continued to occur in the past two days. What should you do if an earthquake occurs in an earthquake zone or where you live?

1. Precautions for home shock prevention

(1) Fix the home water heater and gas facilities.

(2) The shelf for storing items should be fixed to the wall. If heavier or larger items are to be placed on the shelf, it should be placed on the lower layer of the shelf. Cups, porcelain or other fragile items are also best placed on the bottom of the shelf.

(3) Furniture or items with large indoor volume and heavy tops should be fixed.

(4) The lamp above the head must be installed firmly.

(5) Analysis and find out the safety points and dangerous areas of each room when an earthquake occurs.

(6) Prepare emergency rescue bags and place them in an easy-to-get place.

2. Shock-absorbing methods in various places

The principle of shock-absorbing is: choose a place to form a triangular space nearby to avoid; escape from dangerous places; avoid places where secondary disasters are prone to occur; cut off dangerous sources; and avoid human accidents.

(1) When avoiding shock indoors, you should quickly hide near solid furniture or places where triangular spaces are likely to form, such as inner walls, wall corners, etc. If you are very close to a small place to a bathroom, storage room, etc., you can quickly hide inside. Don’t jump off the building, don’t stand by the window or the wall against the balcony, don’t close it to the sun.

(2) When avoiding shock in public places, follow the instructions of the on-site staff and crouch next to the solid object nearby. Evacuation is orderly, do not panic, avoid crowding, avoid crowding, do not take the elevator, and do not stop on the stairs.

(3) When in a stadium or theater, squat down or lie next to the chair, pay attention to avoiding hanging objects, and use a handbag to protect your head.

(4) In shopping malls, bookstores, exhibition halls, subway stations, etc., choose solid counters, goods (such as low furniture, etc.) or column edges and inner corners, and squat down and protect your head with your hands or other things.

(5) In the driving tram or car, you must hold the handrail tightly, lower the center of gravity, and hide near the seat.

(6) When avoiding shocks outdoors, choose to squat or lie down on the open ground, and do not return to the room casually. At the same time, avoid tall buildings, especially buildings with glass curtain walls, avoid overpasses, overpasses, daughter walls, , etc. You must also avoid dangerous objects such as substations, telephone poles, street lights, billboards, etc.

3. Self-rescue in a dangerous environment

(1) Try to avoid unsolid collapsed objects, hanging objects or other dangerous objects above the body, and use bricks, stones, wooden sticks, etc. to support the ruins to prevent them from being buried during aftershocks.

(2) Move away the broken bricks and tiles that can be moved around you to expand the space for activity.

(3) Do not use indoor facilities casually, including power supply, water sources, etc., and do not use open flames.

(4) Don’t yell, save your energy, save oxygen , and use the method of knocking to ask for help.

(5) When smelling gas and odor, cover your mouth and nose with wet clothes.

(6) Protect and save drinking water and food.
