Before moving to Canada, I was a gardener in China and had a special love for bonsai flowers. bell. However, due to changes in life and climate environment after immigrating, I have basically given up my hobby of bonsai.
I accidentally looked at some pictures of succulent bonsais a few years ago and felt that succulent had a rich variety and it was easy to add other elements to create artistic bonsais. From then on,
began to search for succulent varieties, order pots and other small accessories online, and started making succulent bonsais.
was initially limited to succulent varieties, and the works produced appeared to be leggy or withered in a short period of time. Because different varieties have different habits, they also have different environmental requirements.
The following are early works. Due to the different habits of some varieties, they need to be constantly updated.
In the early production, only the color and height were considered, and there was no space left for planting too densely.
As a result, the bonsai cannot maintain its state permanently.
Toronto The spring, summer and autumn are suitable for planting succulents, especially in autumn, where conditions are prone to occur.
But in winter, there is continuous ice and snow, and sub-zero temperatures last for several months. All succulents can only be moved indoors. Although they are constantly illuminated with plant lights , they cannot maintain their condition.
However, in recent years, it has been discovered that several plants such as Guanyin ( Sempervivum ), small ball rose , and a certain sedum can still survive at 20 to 30 degrees below zero. And the condition is very good!
So I used a large number of succulents that can spend the winter outdoors to make bonsais. These varieties are thick and long, easy to match and do not require high pots. The most important thing is not to move indoors in winter.
So I used broken pots to make artistic bonsais
It is easier to plant them on wood because the water repellency ratio of wood is good enough.
Planting on the top of a tree is more creative!
The pots can also be modified into high and low ones to create an effect similar to flower arrangements.
Mural form
Tea set also has a good effect
Finally total Here are my thoughts on making your own bonsai: Match colors and shapes before making them. At the same time, the bonsai should be high and low and equipped with certain accessories (such as characters, animals or houses)
My relatives and friends in the WeChat circle of friends are all interested in my bonsai creation. Approval and encourage me to continue new works.
The process from production to success is endless fun!
