When taking a shower with an electric water heater, should you pull out the plug or leave it plugged in? This issue has always been controversial. My family and I also hold two attitudes about this:
- I think that as long as the electric water heater has stable performance, there is no problem in plugging it in;
- My parents think that water splashes when taking a bath, so it is safe to unplug it.
For this reason, I went to the store to ask. The answer most people gave me was: can be plugged in, but 4 points must be prepared in advance.

①Purchase a qualified electric water heater
Nowadays, as long as it is a qualified electric water heater produced by a regular manufacturer, it will have an anti-leakage device inside to ensure that bathing is safe and comfortable without hidden dangers.
② Reasonable wiring
The electric water heater has high power, and the line load capacity must be strong enough. Generally, copper wires of 6 square meters or more should be selected. If the selected wires are not strong enough, the line loss will be large after being used for a long time, aggravating aging and more likely to cause danger.

In addition, when installing an electric water heater, the socket must be grounded . In this way, even if a leakage accident occurs, the current will first flow through the ground wire to the outsole instead of the human body, reducing personal injury. If the acceptance is careless during decoration and workers connect the wrong lines, accidents may occur when using the electric water heater. This must be paid special attention to.

③ Leakage protection switch
Generally, a protection switch will be installed when installing a water heater, mainly to prevent leakage accidents and improve safety. But having it does not mean that everything will be fine. It must be checked regularly to ensure that the leakage switch is functioning properly to avoid accidents.

How to detect the leakage switch:
Press the "T" button. If the power switch trips, it means that the leakage protection device is functioning normally and can be reset again; otherwise, it means that there is a problem with the switch. Find someone to repair and replace it as soon as possible. It is recommended to do testing every other month to minimize potential risks.

④ The magnesium rod is not corroded
If the pre-filter is not installed at home, impurities in the water will adhere to the inner tank and the magnesium rod with use. Unscheduled cleaning will form stubborn dirt and seriously corrode the magnesium rod, which will not only affect the operating efficiency of the water heater, but also increase the risk of leakage. Therefore, the inner tank and magnesium rod of the electric water heater should be cleaned regularly.
Conclusion
As long as the electric water heater is used and installed correctly, there will be no problems when taking a bath. There is no need to worry too much;
Of course, if you are really worried, you can also unplug the power supply. However, the temperature of the bathing water is difficult to control at this time, and the comfort level will be reduced. Choose as appropriate.
