Casa Covidah is a clay house 3D printed in , Colorado, made by studio emerging objects using clay 3D printers. A couple is currently living in it to avoid infection with the new coronavirus.
Clay house is a commonly used architectural technique in ancient times and has a history of about 7,000 years. 3D printing is a modern technology emerging in recent decades. Therefore, this clay house is a model of the combination of modern and ancient technologies. The entire house consists of three connected cylindrical bodies. The roof is an inflatable round cover, which can be insulated well.
Building materials consist of sand, soil, clay and water, which are added to concrete mixer , mixed together by stirring, and then added to clay 3D printer, the nozzle is controlled by a robotic arm, and the main body of the house is constructed in an extruded manner, which is then dried and hardened in the sun.
The door of the room is set on the central cylinder, the interior of the central cylinder is an open space with two clay benches and an open fireplace for cooking and heating.
The cylinders on both sides are the bedroom, with a bed made of pine boards, and the other is the bathroom, equipped with a toilet and a bathtub, and the water source comes from deep groundwater.
In addition, this house has some other 3D printed items, such as door handles, boilers, lids, etc.
