Aloe is a shrub-like succulent plant. It is native to Africa but has also taken root in South America.
The most popular of them is aloe vera. This succulent is characterized by characteristic fleshy leaves. They are long and triangular, located on vertical branches, sometimes forming a true trunk. Aloe vera leaves have smooth edges and are covered with thorns.
They are green or blue-gray, but can also be marbled, mottled, and covered with white cones. Their flowers have a tubular structure, gathered in more or less elongated clusters; their color usually centers on orange, red, yellow or green. At home, the height of aloe vera can reach 50 cm, while in nature its size sometimes reaches 2 meters.
Aloe vera is relatively easy to grow at home - it requires moderate watering and a sunny but not overly exposed location. A suitable substrate is ordinary garden soil mixed with coarse sand and perlite . The humidity in our homes promotes the growth of aloe vera. It should also be fertilized with cactus liquid during the growing season.
During the growing season, it is best to water once a week, and then up to twice a month. Aloe vera should be repotted in early spring every year or every two years depending on growth. You can sow it in sand in April at a temperature of 20°C, or sprinkle the young shoots and parts of them with soil.
Be careful not to accumulate water at the base of the aloe vera wreath, which begins to sprout in the summer. However, if the leaves turn red, this is a sign that the soil is too "lean" or too dry and the plant should be repotted.
Aloe vera not only effectively decorates a space, but is also a plant widely used in cosmetics, herbal medicine, medicine and cooking. Aloe vera leaves are rich in juice containing anthracene compounds - aloin, trace elements and biostimulants. It has strong antiseptic, moisturizing, regenerating and cleansing properties.
