It’s an old house with unsatisfactory layout. Laura will personally use 3D modeling, draw floor plans, try the layout over and over again, and compare the pros and cons. It took several months to finalize a suitable layout plan.
In the summer of 2013, they finally started construction. The first thing was to remove the original cabinets and open up the entire kitchen, thus creating a continuous line of sight.
The extended kitchen area is painted white, using the island to form a zigzag circulation. The range hood is located in the center of the room, highlighting the high ceiling.
For convenience, the designer connected the island and the dining table together. The food comes out of the pot and is served directly to the table. It is easy to clean up after eating and you can also work on the dining table.
The white walls are connected with the rough rock walls, making it feel simple and warm.
On the other side, a semi-open low wall is constructed as a partition to separate the living room from the view of the kitchen.
The white wall is like a white canvas on which you can decorate as you like; it also sets off the huge moss stone fireplace and becomes the visual focus of the living room.
A second-hand sofa bought from Los Angeles plays the finishing touch.
Natural materials embody the simple beauty of handicrafts.
Can a small apartment also take the minimalist route of leaving a lot of white space? sure!
The entire renovation process lasted 6 months. The biggest challenge faced by the designers was to give the space a bright view without changing the original layout - that is, without knocking on the walls.
For this reason, the furniture should be simple and practical, and the space lines should be simple and clear. Large white walls that brighten the space are also the first choice for small apartments. Combined with vintage decorative materials, polished concrete floors create a unified flow throughout the apartment.
Although the entire design style is simple,
has some bold and exquisite details in every space. The overall tone and decoration combine Mediterranean , Japanese and Nordic elements.
For example, the log dining table and chairs are a reference to Japanese design.
The original kitchen layout was very good, but the electrical cabinets had to be replaced with more modern and simple styles.
After the renovation, the entire kitchen is not only bright and clean, but also has a lot more storage space. The walnut finish is a little retro, and the terrazzo countertop is practical and easy to take care of.
The hardwood pillars beside the window are simply the finishing touch.
The child’s bedroom is equipped with a custom desk and bed frame. The layout is compact and the tone echoes the ceiling.
The bathroom does not have a separate window, and still follows the solid color route, with white strip tiles and small clay floor tiles, which is retro and bright. What I like most is the round basin, which has a porcelain white texture and is very pleasing to the eye.
The large-area mirror can visually stretch the space, and a -Tradition wall lamp is installed on the side, echoing the basin.
The space is filled with a variety of different artworks, from vases on the sideboards to a geometric wall installation above a vintage sofa. Different styles are blended together to inject a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere into the space.
In addition to the living room, the outdated kitchen and bathroom in the apartment must be upgraded immediately. She noticed that both spaces had orange granite counters and decided to keep them during the renovation.
Designers not only need to render interiors that are in line with the times, but also need to cherish resources, otherwise they will be.
Next is the master bedroom. Although it has a large lighting area, it gives people a dark feeling.
Except for the orange granite countertops, everything else in the bathroom has been replaced with a modern style.
