Recently, it has been raining every day, light rain, moderate rain, and heavy rain. It is estimated that some owners have water in their homes. Water leakage makes many owners particularly upset. We have two construction sites with varying degrees of water leakage.
Today we will talk about water leaks at home, their causes, prevention and repair.
I summarized the leaking places. There are three places. The first one is the newly sealed window, and water comes in from the outer edge of the window. The second one is the leaking roof. This roof may be the original roof, or it may be. It is the roof of the sunroom. The third one is an old house. There is no external wall waterproofing and insulation, so water seeps indoors.
Of these three places, the first and second are controllable and maintainable. The third is a problem with the structure of the house and is not easy to repair. Fortunately, the government is now gradually installing insulation on some old houses. After these tasks are completed, the problem of external wall leakage will basically be solved.
Letās talk about the cause of water leakage.
The water leakage around the newly sealed windows just mentioned is mostly caused by improper operation by the installer. For example, the outer wall is broken when installing the windows or the outer edge of the window frame is not sealed after the window is sealed. It is high on the outside and low on the outside, which makes it easy for water to accumulate on the windowsill.
Water leakage in the attic of older houses is very common. Most of it is caused by the disrepair of the attic waterproofing. This is natural aging. Water leakage in a self-sealed sunroom is an installation problem.
Letās talk about waterproofing prevention.
Waterproofing focuses on prevention. Prevention is relatively simple, but later repairs are really troublesome.
ćFor newly sealed windows or sunrooms, if you want to prevent them from leaking, the most important thing is to check the construction.
ćOne third of the product is seventy percent for installation. This principle also applies to sealed windows.
Recently, I experienced water leakage, and I am also reflecting on this issue. I was still not very rigorous in this aspect of construction before.
For example, the master who seals the windows usually completes the small work in one day and the big work in two days. Many owners also understand that it is best to find the slope outside the window frame, but the installation master does not give time, so many owners Just compromised.
The new house is okay, the windows are flat on all four sides. If the windows are replaced in an old house, the original windows are removed, and many places on the four sides of the windows are uneven. In this way, the windows are installed in a daze, just against Styrofoam and sealant play a waterproof role. This approach is obviously too reckless. It is a matter of luck, rather than a true construction from a preventive perspective.
If you have a leaky window at home, you can think about it. Is your home constructed like this?
There is quite a lot of content behind it, so I will cover it in two installments. I will stop here today and continue tomorrow.
