Sui Dynasty (581-618) is a unified dynasty in Chinese history that inherited the Southern and Northern Dynasties and started the Tang Dynasty , and it was thirty-seven years of the country. The following editor of Interesting History will bring you a detailed introduction, let’s take a look.
After the demise of the Sui Dynasty, the descendants of Yang Guang were basically dead. There was only one grandson, but luckily survived because of his posthumous son and later he died with a good end.
Of course, Yang Guang's descendants were dead, and this was really not done by the later Emperor of the Tang Dynasty. On the contrary, the Tang Dynasty later treated the Yang family's royal family quite kindly. The one who really killed the Yang family was actually Yu Wenji.
The descendants of the Yang family were originally many. Because the Yang family was originally a big family, the Yang family had already flourished and prosperous branches long before the founding of the Sui Dynasty. The founding emperor of the Sui Dynasty, Yang Jian, had a total of five sons, among which Yang Guang ranked second.
However, because Yang Guang's own means of ascending the throne are quite special. Yang Guang was not the crown prince back then, and he finally won the position of crown prince by relying on various means. Therefore, after Yang Guang ascended the throne, he first gave his elder brother, Yang Yong, to death. In addition to Yang Yong, Yang Yong's sons were all sentenced to death by Yang Guang.
As for the remaining third, fourth and fifth, the situation is not very good. Because of the luxury of life, the third brother was reduced to his title as early as when Emperor Wen of Sui was alive. In the end, he died of worries and anger, leaving only two sons, Yang Hao and Yang Zhan. The fourth brother was once dissatisfied with Yang Guang's name as crown prince, so when Emperor Wen of Sui was alive, he cursed Emperor Wen of Sui, and later the incident was dismissed from his title. However, after Yang Guang ascended the throne, he did not make any trouble. Although he was not reused, he still kept him with him all year round.
There is also the fifth brother who once rebelled after Yang Guang ascended the throne and was later captured alive. However, even though he had experience of rebellion, Yang Guang still did not kill him, but just entangled him in the matter. As for the sons of the fifth brother, Yang Guang did not make too many difficulties.
In short, after Yang Guang ascended the throne, except for his elder brother, the other brothers all had their own descendants.
As for Yang Guang, Yang Guang has a total of four sons, plus several daughters. The reason why there are several is that there are only two that are clearly recorded in history books. However, the historical community generally believes that in addition to these two daughters, Yang Guang has other daughters.
Yang Guang's four sons are the eldest Yang Zhao , the second Yang Qing , the third trunk Yang Ming, and the fourth trunk Yang Gao. However, Yang Ming, the third brother here, died prematurely not long after he was born, and it is impossible for him to have descendants. Therefore, many historical books record that Yang Guang only has three sons.
Among these three sons of Yang Guang, Yang Zhao is the oldest and is also the eldest son. So after Yang Guang ascended the throne, he quickly made him the crown prince. But unfortunately, Yang Zhao disappeared when he was 23 years old, leaving only three sons, namely Yang Qing , Yang Tong and Yang You .
As for Yang Guang's other two sons, they were born relatively late, so before the Sui Dynasty fell, neither of them left behind any descendants. Only the second son, Yang Qing, had a child with his wife when the Sui Dynasty was about to perish. But before the child was born, the Sui Dynasty died.
The people mentioned above are all male members of the Yang family. As for the descendants of the Yang Jian brothers' family, they were already far away when the Sui Dynasty was destroyed, so no one targeted them.
A rough calculation of the lineage of Emperor Wen of Sui, the descendants combined together are close to dozens of people, and they don’t look like they are the best. However, what no one expected was that after Yang Guang ascended the throne, it took only ten years to make the entire Sui Dynasty dying. By the 13th year of Daye, the Sui Dynasty's rule in the north had almost completely collapsed.
So, at this time, Yang Guang could only choose to transfer the only remaining part of the Sui Dynasty to Yangzhou , intending to settle in the south of the Yangtze River and give up the north directly.Since we have this plan, the Yang family naturally needs to be transferred. Therefore, on Yang Guang's way south to Yangzhou, most of the Yang family mentioned above basically followed Yang Guang to Yangzhou together.
Including Yang Guang's two younger brothers who have been banned for more than ten years.
However, among these Yang clan relatives, two are relatively exceptional. These two people are Yang Guang's two grandsons, Yang You and Yang Tong. Although Yang Guang still has two sons, judging from Yang Guang's performance, Yang Guang does not seem to be satisfied with the two sons. Therefore, Yang Guang planned to skip his son and let his grandson be the crown prince.
It is precisely for this reason that after Yang Guang went south to Yangzhou, he used the three sons of the Yuande Prince . The oldest Yang Neng has always been with Yang Guang and trained according to the direction of the crown prince. As for the remaining Yang Tong and Yang You, one was left in Luoyang and the other was left in Chang'an .
At the end of the Sui Dynasty, this was probably the case with the Yang family’s royal family.
And then, starting from the end of the 13th year of Daye, the Yang family began to experience drastic changes.
First, in the middle of the thirteenth year, Li Yuan , who had been developing in Shanxi Province, suddenly rose up and attacked Guanzhong . Because Li Yuan was well prepared, he conquered Chang'an and entered Guanzhong just four months later.
After Li Yuan entered Guanzhong, he did not immediately proclaim himself emperor, but instead supported Chang'an Yang You as the emperor and respected Yang Guang as the emperor.
At the same time Li Yuan invaded Guanzhong, the Sui Dynasty's rule over the Central Plains had completely collapsed. Apart from the Jiangdu area, you can barely control it, and you basically don’t have much power.
But at this moment, because Yang Guang proposed that he would stay in Yangzhou in the future. The imperial guards under Yang Guang were basically from Guanzhong, and everyone wanted to return to Guanzhong. Therefore, in March of the 14th year of Daye, the imperial guards suddenly mutiny. In the end, under the leadership of the imperial guards, Sima Dekan, and the treacherous minister Yu Wenhua and others, Yang Guang was directly killed.
With Yang Guang's death, the Sui Dynasty was completely dead. But next, how to deal with the Yang clan relatives in the Jiangdu area became a big problem. In the end, under the arrangement of Yu Wenji, basically all the Yang family members in Jiangdu area were executed on the spot by the imperial guards.
The only exception is Yang Guang's nephew, Yang Hao, the son of Yang Guang's fourth brother's family. Because he has a good culture and relationship with Yu, he was kept and was also supported as a puppet emperor.
But after this, the situation began to be turbulent. First of all, after Luoyang learned that Yang Guang was killed, he also supported Yang Tong as the emperor. Next, the Wagang Army , led by Li Mi , fought with Yu Wenhe and directly defeated Yu Wenhe. When Yu Wenhua was defeated, he poisoned Yang Hao to death and proclaimed himself emperor, and became an emperor.
With Yu Wenhua and his defeat, the Wagang army won miserably. But next, the Luoyang Wang Shichong led his army to raid the Wagang army, becoming the final winner. After the defeat of the Wagang Army, Wang Shichong quickly rose and began to dominate the Luoyang side. After that, under the pressure of Wang Shichong, Yang Tong was forced to abdicate to Wang Shichong. After Yang Tong abdicated, he was poisoned to death by Wang Shichong not long after.
As for Chang'an, after Yang Guang was killed, Li Yuan also began to be unable to control himself. Just over a month later, Li Yuan forced Yang You to abdicate to himself, and the Tang Dynasty was founded since then. After the founding of the Tang Dynasty, less than two years after Yang You died strangely, and the cause of his death was unknown. Some people say that they were poisoned to death by Li Yuan, while others say that they died of illness by chance.
But no matter what, at this point, all the male members of the Yang family were completely wiped out.
The only exception is a posthumous child. Before Yang Guang was killed, Yang Guang's second son Yang Hung left a posthumous son. During the Jiangdu coup, Yang Ming naturally failed to escape Yu Wenji's butcher's knife. Then this child survived by chance because he had not shown his conceit at that time.
After Yu Wen and his defeat, he planned to flee to the north with only a few elite soldiers and the female relatives of the Yang family. On the way, he was intercepted and killed by Dou Jiande . In this way, these female relatives of the Yang family fell into Dou Jiande's hands. It was probably during this period that this posthumous son was born and named Yang Zhengdao.
After Yang Zhengdao was born, not long after, the north Turkic sent someone to ask Dou Jiande for someone. The reason why the Turks came to seek people was because when the Sui Dynasty was powerful, they sent a princess to marry the Turks. At this time, the princess was still very powerful in the Turkic side, so she sent someone to ask for someone.
In order to get the support of the Turks, Dou Jiande decisively handed over these Yang family’s female family members. In this way, Yang Zhengdao wandered and fell to the Turks. In the following years, the Tang Dynasty gradually unified the world and the Central Plains began to be pacified. After the Central Plains were unified again, a few years later, Li Shimin ascended the throne and became emperor. After Li Shimin ascended the throne, he sent famous generals Li Jing 2 to lead his army to fight against the Turks, and destroyed the Eastern Turkic tent in one battle.
After the Eastern Turkic king's tent was destroyed, Yang Zhengdao was brought back to the Tang Dynasty by the Tang army.
At this time, Yang Zhengdao was already the only descendant of Emperor Yang of Sui . However, Li Shimin did not make things difficult for Yang Zhengdao. Because time has changed, although Yang Zhengdao was an orphan of the previous dynasty, he did not threaten him. Therefore, Li Shimin chose to treat Yang Zhengdao well and even gave Yang Zhengdao a title.
Even, Yang Zhengdao died in the Li Zhi era and was able to have a good end. As for Yang Zhengdao's descendants, there is no record in history books, but later generations generally believe that Yang Zhengdao had descendants. So from this perspective, Emperor Yang of Sui has a descendant.
In addition, Emperor Yang of Sui also had a special experience. Two of Yang Guang's daughters are recorded in official history. A younger brother, Yuwen and , married to Yuwen and . He became a monk after the fall of the Sui Dynasty. The other was that after the founding of the Tang Dynasty, he married Li Shimin and later gave birth to two children for Li Shimin. If we do not consider the inheritance of the surname, Yang Guang also has descendants from his daughter branch alone.
