Hello everyone, Ayu talks about history again. Today we will share it together to live. Maybe you can get unexpected gains.

Horses stepped on the Huns and rushed thousands of miles across Juyan. Break the pass and break the formation and pass the Western Regions , kill the generals and soldiers to the north. "A generation of good generals Huo Qubing , dedicated his life to Han Dynasty .

Back then, the barbaric Huns invaded the border of the Han Dynasty. The 17-year-old Huo Qubing was ordered to lead 800 light cavalry into the hinterland of the desert as the captain of Yao. The first time he led his troops to fight, Huo Qubing, who had no practical experience, created a remarkable record.

In his short military career, he fought countless times and killed tens of thousands of enemies, making Desert North Huns frightened and never dared to attack rashly again. On the way of the marching, Huo Qubing not only experienced the war, but also enjoyed many scenery, met many people, and visited many cities.

According to legend, Huo Qubing captured many cities when fighting against the Huns. He also named these cities, four of which are the most well-known ones, namely Jiuquan , Zhangye , Wuwei and Dunhuang.

Everyone knows that these cities belong to Gansu Province, my country, but few people know that their names were taken by Huo Qubing, a Han Dynasty , and has been used to this day, and have never changed their names. What kind of history do these cities have?

Jiuquan: There is a spring under the city, and its water is like wine

is well known. Jiuquan is a prefecture-level city affiliated to Gansu Province, my country. But thousands of years ago, Gansu did not belong to the Han , but was controlled by foreign tribes such as Wusun , Dayuezhi , and the Xiongnu. Any ambitious ruler will not yearn for a living in a corner.

In 209 BC, Maodun Shanyu of the Xiongnu tribe killed his father and succeeded to the throne, and began to expand vigorously, defeated the Dayuezhi tribe, and occupied most of the Hexi area. But he was not satisfied and aimed at the vast Han Dynasty. He repeatedly asked for trouble on the Han-Hungary border, causing trouble in the Han-Hungary people to suffer.

If people offend me, I will offend people. Faced with the provocation of the Hun tribe, Emperor Wu of Han decided to send troops to fight. In 121 BC, 19-year-old Huo Qubing was named General of Cavalry by the Imperial Emperor, leading 10,000 troops to the northwest to fight the Huns.

The newborn calf is not afraid of tigers. The young and promising Huo Qubing showed the style of a great Han general on the battlefield. He led the Han army to fight fiercely with the Huns several times, and most of them won. In the end, the first battle in Hexi ended with the victory of the Han army and Russia and Japan.

Later, Huo Qubing was ordered by Emperor Wu of Han to go to Hexi again. This time, he not only drove away the remnants of the Huns, but also captured Hunxie King . After King Hunxie surrendered, Emperor Wu of Han set up " Hexi four counties " in Hexi area, namely Jiuquan County , Zhangye County , Wuwei County and Dunhuang County . According to legend, the name Jiuquan was named by Huo Qubing himself. It is said that there is a spring in Jiuquan City, with clear and cold spring water, which is the main source of water for the people in the city. The taste of this spring water seems to be as sweet and mellow as wine, with endless aftertaste. Huo Qubing named the city "Jiuquan" according to the meaning of "There is a spring under the city, and the water is like wine."

Jiuquan has a special geographical location and has been a fortress from the Central Plains to the Western Regions since ancient times. Zhang Qian was ordered to go to the Western Regions and often passed through this place. Later, the economic exchanges on Silk Road became more and more frequent, and Jiuquan also became the core city of Northwest trade.

Nowadays, Jiuquan is not developing rapidly. It not only has many scenic spots, but also established the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center , witnessing the ups and downs of my country's aerospace industry for decades.

Zhangye: Zhangguo Armye, to connect to the Western Regions

, just like Jiuquan, Zhangye belongs to , and was ruled by alien tribes before the Western Han Dynasty . During this period, Zhangye has been performing a farce of "Come on, I'll leave". At first, Zhangye belonged to the Wusun tribe, but later, the Dayuezhi drove away Wusun and occupied Zhangye.Later, the more powerful Hun tribe came here to drive away the Great Yuezhi.

Zhangye changed hands several times and eventually became the territory of the Western Han Dynasty. According to legend, in the second battle of Hexi in , , Xiu Tu Wang , and Hun Xie Wang surrendered to the Han Dynasty. Huo Qubing was ordered to name the surrendered land, and he named one of the cities "Zhangye", which means "Zhangguo's arm to connect to the Western Regions." This shows the importance of Zhangye’s geographical location.

After the Dahan established exchanges with countries in the Western Regions, the country's homes carried out trade through the Silk Road. Zhangye is the core hub on this trade route, and its importance cannot be underestimated.

Wuwei: Wugong military power

"Wugong military power, Wugong military power". It is not difficult to see from 年卡正 that the city of Wuwei has very special significance to Huo Qubing and even to the entire Han Dynasty. Back then, Wuwei was also one of the territory of the Xiongnu King Xiu Tu.

Huo Qubing was ordered to fight the West to attack the Huns. After countless bloody battles, the remnants of the Xiongnu fled in a panic, and the young leaders such as Xiu Tu chose to surrender to the Han Dynasty in order to protect themselves. In this way, Wuwei, Jiuquan, Zhangye and others became the territory of the Han Dynasty.

The purpose of Emperor Wu of Han sent Huo Qubing to the West was to subdue the barbaric and cruel Hun tribes, but also to break the trade barriers between the Central Plains and the Western Regions and establish good transnational trade relations. In general, what Emperor Wu of Han thought was not only the conquering foreign races in front of him, but also the bright future of the Han Dynasty!

In order to commemorate the soldiers who died bravely in the Battle of Hexi and to demonstrate the great national prestige of the Han Dynasty, Huo Qubing named Wuwei. Later, the imperial court established Wuwei County here. From then on, Wuwei, together with Jiuquan, Zhangye and Dunhuang, became the fortress of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the core city of Hexi.

Dunhuang: Dun, Daye, Huang, Shengye

Dunhuang is the city closest to the Western Regions among the four counties in Hexi. According to legend, after the Second Hexi Battle ended, Huo Qubing captured four cities and named them respectively, Dunhuang was among them. However, according to historical data, Dunhuang's city name has a long history. "Records of the Grand Historian: Biography of Dayuan" written by Sima Qian mentioned the word "Dunhuang". It reads: "The first Yuezhi lived between Dunhuang and Qilian." In 3 years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, a scholar had a new explanation of Dunhuang: "Dun is great, huang, prosperous."

It is not difficult to see that the city of Dunhuang carries the infinite expectations of the Han people, and also demonstrates the style of a great country. Therefore, it is impossible to know whether the name of Dunhuang was named by Huo Qubing himself, or during the reign of the Great Yuezhi, or Zhang Qian.

But it is certain that since Huo Qubing conquered the Hexi region, Dunhuang, Zhangye, Wuwei and Jiuquan have been included in the Chinese territory. Later, these four cities "made their debut in groups" and participated in the trade between the Han Dynasty and the Western Regions as the "Four Hexi counties".

During all dynasties, Dunhuang has existed as the gateway to the countries in the Western Regions, and its importance can be imagined. At that time, Zhang Qian went to the Western Regions to go abroad through Dunhuang. Although the land transport function of the Silk Road does not seem to be as prominent as railways, waterways, and aviation today, its significance cannot be ignored.

Dunhuang and other four cities are like pearls falling on silk, shining forever and shining. Although there is no practical evidence for the statement that "Huo Qubing named the four cities", one thing is certain that their names have been used since the Han Dynasty.

If Huo Qubing and the soldiers had not fought bloody battles with bloody cities, then the four cities of Jiuquan, Zhangye, Wuwei and Dunhuang would not belong to China. They will not succeed as the core point of trade on the Silk Road. Therefore, Huo Qubing is always worthy of praise and praise!
