The former site of the Eighth Route Army Communications Office in Shuangqing District is a provincial cultural relics protection unit and a patriotic education base in Hunan. It moved from Changsha to Shaoyang in late November 1938. It was the center of the revolutionary struggle in the province and the anti-Japanese and national salvation movement in the province at that time. The former site was originally a brick-wood-structured house, with two bedrooms on one front and one horizontal, covering an area of 760 square meters. The former site consists of the main building of cultural relics and the exhibition hall. In recent years, Shuangqing District has invested more than 10 million yuan to improve quality and renovate the old site, and invited an expert team to collect and organize historical materials and collect cultural relics. The main building of the cultural relics uses tables, chairs, beds and other furniture decorations as display methods to reproduce the life and work scenes of that year. The exhibition hall uses pictures, text, audio and cultural relics display as display means to introduce the work of the Eighth Route Army Communications Office in Hunan in Shaoyang in the past year and the deeds of revolutionary ancestors. The first special exhibition hall of the Communist Party of China in Shaoyang was also built, and the first meeting of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee was simulated on site and the party spirit education and training room during the War of Resistance.
