In 742 AD, Qizhou in eastern Hubei was changed to Qichun County , and Yongning County in Qizhou was renamed Guangji County. The name of Yongning County symbolized eternal peace at that time, and in , Tang Dynasty, , Yongning County was under the jurisdiction of Qizhou, Huainan Road. But such a nice county name is because , the first year of Tianbao, had the same problem as the county name in the same dynasty. , Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, personally renamed Yongning County Guangji County. The name of Guangji County comes from the meaning of "supporting Buddhism to benefit all living beings". "Guangji County" is a special historical background named by the emperor of the dynasty and has the special meaning of "helping all living beings". In theory, this "beautiful name" should be passed down through the ages and promoted and inherited historically as a regional brand. However, when Guangji County was abolished in October 1987, it turned into the city name of " Wuxue ". This wave of operational naming made historical and geographers say "can't understand".
( Wuxue City is a demonstration city for the cultivation of "double low" rapeseed in Hubei Province. It grows 450,000 mu of rapeseed all year round, and is known as the "hometown of rapeseed" in China.)
Why was it renamed "Wuxue City" when Guangji County, Huanggang City was renamed "Wuxue City"? Before 1953, the Guangji County Government was stationed in Meichuan Town, in the northern part of the county, and its economic development has been relatively backward in the surrounding county economy. After moving the county government to Wuxue Town next to the Yangtze River in 1953, its economy in the county leap to the forefront of the Huanggang area (now Huanggang City ). This is because Wuxue Town is located on the bank of the Yangtze River and has a passenger and freight port for the Yangtze River. In the past, when railways and highways were underdeveloped, water transportation was the only choice for transportation of bulk goods. Therefore, the "Wuxue" brand economy is far greater than the historical and cultural brand of "Guangji" inheritance of "Public and Ji all living beings". This is why the relevant departments of the county redeveloped the city at that time explained why "Wuxue" was still continued as the city name.
This author believes that whether it is a county name or a city name after the county is converted into a city, "Guangji" is more famous and profound than the name of "Wuxue". The name of "Wuxue" comes from Wuxue Town. According to the records of the Kangxi county, this place may be said to have been read by Wu Family before the Han Dynasty, and the Tang Dynasty falsely rumored to have been read by Wu Family. The "Yangtze River Map" records that "Wujiu" was one of the famous caves in the Yangtze River in ancient times. It was originally a small fishing village and formed a town in the Ming Dynasty. It was renamed "Wujiu". Later, it became the name of "Wujiu" in the complex evolution of history and geography.
Compared with the famous acupoints of the Yangtze River and the historical and cultural brands of "Helping all living beings", the latter is far better than the name of "Wuxue" in terms of historical origins and place name culture research, geographical related characteristics, and urban cultural image brand promotion. This name of "Guangji" is far better than that of "Wuxue". This kind of home feelings for many people in Wuxue City, Guangji County today, and this kind of hometown feelings should be worthy of encouragement.
