Wang Ping was named after Chairman Mao Zedong.
When participating in the revolution, Wang Ping changed his name to Wang Ming, a simple and memorable name, because the word "only allowed" was difficult to call.
In late December 1936, Wang Ping graduated from the Red Army University and was preparing for a new position. When he took office, Chairman Mao asked him to talk to He Jinnian. After explaining the task, Chairman Mao saw Wang Ping wanting to say something, so he asked him: "Are there any difficulties?" Wang Ping stood up and said, "I want to change my name." Chairman Mao said humorously after hearing this: "Call Wang. Ming, this name is very good, international representative!" Wang Ping saw Chairman Mao joking like that, and said a little embarrassed: "Because people always make fun of me like that, so I want to change my name.
"Okay, then!" Chairman Mao immediately agreed, and took the brush from the pen holder, and wrote on a piece of rice paper: "Order, He Jinnian will be the commander of the 27th Army, and Wang Ping will be the 27th. Military political commissar.
Since then, Wang Ming officially changed his name to Wang Ping. Chairman Mao praised Wang Ping.
During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Wang Ping, who was the political commissar of the Third Division of the Jinchaji Military Region, led his troops to North China. , Undertaking the strategic tasks of mobilizing the masses behind enemy lines, independently launching guerrilla warfare, cooperating with the frontal battlefield, opening up the enemy’s rear battlefield, and establishing an anti-Japanese base area behind the enemy. The guerrilla tactics of "I'm in" are used like flying a boat down the water and riding a horse.
Chairman Mao praised Wang Ping's guerrilla warfare and said: "The guerrilla warfare in North China is well done, like sparrows flying all over the sky.
Wang Ping also lost no time in launching mobile warfare, actively creating and guiding the use of landmine warfare and tunnel warfare.
During the Liberation War period, Wang Ping served as the political commissar of the Jijin Military Region. On the afternoon of October 17, 1947, Commander Nie Rongzhen The officer ordered him to immediately rush to the front line, unified command of the troops participating in the Ji-Jin war to fight a blockade, dragged the enemy's third army to the north, and took time for the main force of the field army to participate in the war. From Fuping where Wang Ping lived to the frontline combat location After receiving the task for more than two hundred miles, Wang Ping, who was on an empty stomach, couldn't even care for food, so he drove his horse and whipped his whip for a starry night. On the way, his beloved war horse was exhausted alive. But Wang Ping clenched tightly. Yaguan ran all the way to the battle site, and finally arrived at the command post when the morning light showed on the next day.
At this time, the enemy's third army of more than 14,000 troops had just crossed the Shahe River and had not advanced far. Wang Ping immediately commanded the Jizhong Independent Eighth Brigade, a Jijin regiment, and the local militia to disrupt traffic, set up barriers, shoot cold shots, and lay landmines on the enemy’s only way to stop the enemy. At the same time, he mobilized the masses before the enemy came. In the past, the walls were cleared, food and cooking utensils were transferred, and the wells were filled. When the enemy was hungry, thirsty, and morale was low, Wang Ping seized the fighter in time and issued an offensive order, annihilating more than 4,000 enemies, and successfully completed the blockade. War, was awarded by Jinchaji Military Region.
As a result of his magnificent military exploits during the Agrarian Revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the War of Liberation, he has made immortal contributions to the liberation of the Chinese people. In 1955, Wang Ping was awarded the rank of general.
On February 8, 1998, Wang Ping passed away in Beijing at the age of 91.
