After the founding of New China, Wang Jingqing was transferred to the Central Guard Division and served as a guard of Zhongnanhai , and was responsible for personal protection of Comrade Liu Shaoqi. In the early 1980s, Wang Jingqing was transferred to Yunnan and served as Chief of Staff of the Nujiang Military Sub-district of the Yunnan Provincial Military Region. It was also during that period that Wang Jingqing and Li Ne became connected.

After marriage, Wang Jingqing's relationship was also transferred to Beijing. Since then, he and Li Na lived in Beijing and took care of Li Na wholeheartedly. Li Ne has been weak and sick since childhood. After adulthood, she suffered from insomnia due to marriage and other matters. In order to take care of Li Na, Wang Jingqing took over almost all the housework at home. Li Na also laughed at the saying that Wang Jingqing is the chef at home and he is just a cleaner himself.
Wang Jingqing took good care of Li Na, and Li Na's face slowly became a smile. What is even more touching is that Li Na's son Xu Xiaoning also changed his name and surname from Xu Xiaoning to Wang Xiaozhi.
