On January 18, 1950, my country officially established diplomatic relations with Vietnam, becoming the first country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Vietnam regards this day as "Diplomatic Victory Day". Although Vietnam had been established as a nation at that time, it was still under the rule of French colonialism. In order to break away from the French colonial aggression as soon as possible and save the country that was almost in collapse, Ho Chi Minh walked through the virgin forest for 17 days in January 1950 to the Sino-Vietnamese border, and then went to Beijing to seek help from Chairman Mao.
At that time, our country had just been established, and it was full of waste. Helping Vietnam was not an easy task. However, Chairman Mao took into account the profound friendship between China and Vietnam and accepted Ho Chi Minh’s request without hesitation. Free assistance. On June 23, 1955, President Ho Chi Minh was invited to make his first public official visit to China. At 10:30 a.m. on June 25, 65-year-old President Ho Chi Minh led a Vietnamese government delegation to Beijing by special plane from Wuhan. He was warmly welcomed by Chairman Mao and other leaders at the Xijiao Airport. Ho Chi Minh was very happy to see Chairman Mao. Excited, he took the initiative to shake hands and hug. On that day, the national flags of China and Vietnam were hung at the entrance of the airport, with sixteen silk red flags on both sides. About 10,000 people attended the welcome ceremony. In addition to leaders such as Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou, and Mr. Zhu, there were also heads of various government departments, celebrities from all walks of life, envoys and diplomatic officials from various countries stationed in China, workers in the capital, Institutional cadres and student representatives, Tong, Yao, Miao, Hani and other ethnic minority youths from Guangxi and Yunnan, staff of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, as well as Vietnamese expatriates and Vietnamese students in Beijing.
People at the airport applauded warmly and shouted welcome slogans for the friendship between the people of Vietnam and China and the meeting between the great leaders. Two Young Pioneers presented flowers to President Ho Chi Minh at the airport. Flower-laying by Young Pioneers was once a fixed part of my country's diplomatic etiquette. The young pioneers who lay flowers are usually a combination of boys and girls. Many cities have red scarf concierge teams. The young pioneers who participate in the concierge team are all "top students" with excellent academic performance and have undergone rigorous training. Whenever foreign guests are welcomed or party and state leaders leave or return to Beijing, local Young Pioneers will be organized to carry out a flower-laying ceremony at the airport.
