As part of Halo Infinite’s winter update, developer 343 is giving its rather unpopular matching pattern experience value system a welcome overhaul.
Previously revealed that players will be able to gain experience points by playing the game soon, but now there are more details.
When this update goes live on November 8, Halo Infinity’s “Match XP Beta” will see players rewards for playing “any mode they want”.
Each player's performance will earn them additional rewards, such as becoming a member of the winning team.
343 will "monitor the value of each reward category and adjust them as new models develop", so we decided to call it "test" for the time being. Meanwhile, here’s everything in the game.
343 means that some experience values can still be obtained by completing the challenge, but the challenge itself is now mainly focused on "the path to obtaining customized props with the ultimate reward every week."
Apart from that, 343 is reducing the number of challenges required to reach the "ultimate challenge" and is now 10.
When the winter update is online next week, the challenge will also become more "universal" and can be completed in any playlist. 343 admits that many Halo Infinity players don't like to queue up for playlists, they don't want to get involved at all, just to complete the battle pass challenge.
343 states: "The winter update will mark the transition of all challenges to playlist agnostic." Before confirming that event challenges will change to better reflect this new approach shift.
Finally, 343 solves its career development system. Work on this is still underway, but more will be announced in the "future", with developers saying its winter update "just a start" and that "wider changes" have not yet been implemented in Halo: Infinity.
