Isuru Jayaweera joined the Colombo Branch of the Bank of China in April 2018 and served as assistant general manager of the Clearing and Operations Department. He has worked in Bank of China for four and a half years and is currently the deputy general manager and corporate governance officer of the General Management Department of Bank of China Colombo Branch.

As one of the earliest Serie employees of the Bank of China Colombo Branch, before joining Bank of China, he served as the head of external services at the Sri Lanka Clear Pvt Ltd.

Because he works in a Chinese company, he has the opportunity to travel to China.

"I visited Shanghai and Beijing in September 2018. During my time in China, I met many Chinese Bank employees who worked in other overseas branches, and the training itinerary also arranged a visit to Shanghai city. It was a very beautiful memory. China is a very beautiful country."

In his eyes, Shanghai is very developed, and the advanced city left a deep impression on him; "Below Great Wall is not a hero", he also boarded the Great Wall of China that he had seen in the picture. "I like my trip to China very much. I find that the people here are generally friendly. China's world heritage site is very majestic."

As a Sri Lankan employee in a Chinese company, Ishu believes that working with Chinese colleagues is a different experience, and you can learn a lot.

"At first, I had certain difficulties in communicating with my Chinese colleagues in terms of language and thinking, and we tried to get along and get to know each other. Later, the Bank of China specially opened a basic Chinese class for Sri Lankan employees to help Sri Lankan employees who work at Bank of China. Learning language and culture is of great benefit, and corporate culture also enhances the cohesion between colleagues."

Issulu also said that whether in Sri Lanka or China, Chinese people are very friendly and easy to get close to.

"Chinese people are very punctual, even when using meals, and the Bank of China will ensure that employees will not overwork and have a balanced work and life."

His favorite Chinese food is dumplings and mooncakes. The extra beautiful mooncakes provided at the "China-Series Friendship Glory Night" reception made his eyes shine.

He said: Bank of China is one of the "four major banks in China". I have gained a lot of experience on this platform, especially in global banking culture and transaction processing, which has broadened my global horizon.

"I like my work very much."
