Some of the old folk sayings did have the superstitious color of idealism under , but it is undeniable that many folk sayings are the most profound words that gather the wisdom of the ancients.
yard facing north and south
In ancient northern rural areas, except for the terrain restrictions or poor economic conditions, most farmers would build houses into " yard facing north and south ". This is not all the so-called Feng Shui, the most important thing is to lighting and avoid the cold wind in nature.

(1) The door is not cold to Nanzi. "The door faces south" means that the home yard is "facing north and south" and the door of the house is facing south. "Son of the Son" means that living in a home facing north and south, descendants will easily survive the cold winter in the north, and they will not feel wet in summer, so their descendants will suffer less of the "cold" and "wet" in nature.
Faced north and south is conducive to lighting
So why do houses facing south have less "cold" and "wet"? There are two main reasons: 1. Houses facing north and south face the sun, facing the sun, which is most conducive to lighting, so that the main house and the courtyard are the brightest and warmest; 2. In the north and winter, the cold wind is the northwest wind from the northwest direction. Houses facing north and south can effectively block the invasion of the northwest wind.
House under tall trees
(II) Shutongxuan Fulu San. The "shutongxuan" in this sentence is a bit confusing: the "shu" here refers to the various trees planted in the courtyard and around it; the "shu" here means "ju"; the "shu" here is derived from one of the basic meanings of the word "xuan", which is a kind of curtained car in ancient China.
"Shutongxuan" means that if the trees in and around the home grow too vigorously and grow too tall, it is like a curtain to cover the sky and the sun for the home.
House under tall trees
Why is "Shutongxuan" not good? Too tall trees in the yard are not good for the living environment, which is mainly reflected in four points: 1. Various insects will inevitably grow on the trees, and many birds will inevitably build nests on the trees, so that insects and bird droppings will often fall into the yard; 2. Lightning and thunder will often sound in rainy summer, while tall trees are prone to lightning strikes; 3. When windy in winter, the trees in the home are too tall, which can easily cause whirlwinds in the yard. Not to mention the louder whirlwinds, the yard is colder; 4. The most important point is that tall trees block the sun like umbrellas, which is not conducive to lighting and the house will be wet.
All things grow by the sun
