I Ching Gen Gua talks about movement and stillness at any time, when they move, they move, and when they stop, they stop. What it actually interprets is to act according to the opportunity and go with the flow without any worries. The words of the Yi Jing come from the hexagrams. Let’s deduce this process based on the hexagrams.
First of all, there is news at any time. Let's look at the hexagrams. The hexagram Gen is Gen lower and Gen upper, and Gen is the mountain. When the two Gen hexagrams are combined together, it is the so-called combined mountain Gen. Gen is the time, and the three, four, and five lines form a Zhen hexagram, Zhen is Chen, and Xing is Xing. Zhen Gua and Gen Gua are mutually inverted. The preaching of miscellaneous hexagrams is called "shock" and "gen". It means pros and cons. When it stops, it will stop; when it shakes each other, it will move. When you stop, you are still, when you move, you move. This is called movement and stillness at any time.
Secondly, act according to the opportunity. Take action based on timing. When we look at hexagram images, we look from bottom to top. The lower hexagram Gen is for observation, for seeing, for respect and caution, and so on. Lines two, three and four constitute a Kan hexagram . Kan is an organ, a cardinal, and a danger. Be careful and stop when you see danger, which is called being cautious and not going out. Don't touch the danger. The lower hexagram Gen is Bangguo , which is home and door. You stay at home and don’t go out. The three lines are followed by the two Yin lines below, and your small life is also a happy one. This is the so-called stop when the time comes. Lines 3, 4 and 5 are mutual shocks. If Gen Gua stays at home, Zhen Gua will go out. Zhen is Xing, Chen, and Cong. When the Zhen hexagram meets heavy Yin, when Yang meets Yin, it will connect. The hurdles are dangers and difficulties, and the shocks are solutions. The danger was resolved. This is what is called when things go, things go. As a cardinal, Kan Gua overcame this difficulty. When he stepped out of the house, he reached a higher level and stepped onto a new level. Gen is the step, Zhen is on the new step, and the so-called infinite scenery is on the dangerous peak.
Third, Shuntian is worry-free. Only by following the weather can you be worry-free. To say there is no worry is still worrying. This is the same as the Yi Jing says there is no blame, but in fact there is still blame. The barrier is worry and vigilance. It is located in the middle of the hexagram and is difficult to avoid. Gen is heaven and time, Kun is Shun. The two Yin Yao under Gen Gua follow the Yang Yao of Gen Gua. This is called Shun Tian, Kan is worry and shock is joy. So worry free. This is how Shuntian Wuyou came about. This day refers to the time of day, or the timing. As for the hexagram, the shock is spring, the ridge is winter, the fudui is autumn, the three highest lines are separated from each other and are summer, and the hexagram images are available for all four seasons. Sow in spring, grow in summer, harvest in autumn, and store in winter. Decide where to go according to the time of day. Just like we can do whatever we do at any age, we must never choose to lie down at the age of struggle. Action first, then inaction, action followed by inaction, this is the life without regrets.
Confucius said in Xiang Yue that a gentleman cannot think of his position. It just tells us to keep our position and do our duty well. The end of Gen is not coming out, the position is the position, the threshold is faith, and the thought is. When you go, you go, when you stop, you stop. There is movement and stillness at any time, and the path is bright.
